Default Lost my motor last night, so whats the recipe?

It let go tonight doing what it does best , haven't dismantled yet to see what failed, left couple quarts of Rotella on the side of the road. Tune was pretty conservative at 16* timing and 11.5 AFR on E85, I estimate it was making around 630-650whp, #6 plug was chewed up, so looks like standard rod or rod bolt failure, since noting looked out of the ordinary.

So i'm looking for the recipe for a the new forged shortblock.
The goal is to keep it simple, same 10.5:1 compression, aluminum block, 7000-7200rpm capable, I wan't like 750whp next rounds, so I should probably build it to handle 800-900, probably slap 243s on it again, what the go-to piston and rod setup for LS motors.

I did happen to get it on video

Sucks to hear man. Time for bigger, badder, stronger, faster.

You are running the Hinson kit right? I'm torn on selling my supercharger and going with the Hinson or building a rear mount. I'm done dealing with belt problems.

Good luck on your build. Forged LS2 would probably be the ticket.

I do run a Hinson, depends on the power you're trying to make. hinsons limit is the downpipe. it's great if you're content between 500-700whp

Sorry to hear. We can definitely help you out with a new motor. Give us a call and we can discuss some options and get you an estimate.

Hate to hear your bad man. But TX speed has a short block set up that looks good for the money.. BUT IN THE LS1 R 2 R LS3 BLOCK IF YOU PLAIN ON GOING OVER 700 RWHP I WOULD ALSO GET THE MAIN CAPS PINNED ALSO.. Robert

Just build a ls1 with good rods and pistons stock crank. I'm not a big fan of stroker motors anymore they are hard on pistons.

Shoaf seems to have it figured out with an LS3. Perhaps you should look into using one of them.

Agreed completely. I'm finishing my forged 370 as I type. Getting back to running sucks man. Hopefully you see a quick turnaround.

I'd like to assume he was referencing a pump gas (E-10) scale. But. Assume nothing I guess. Nonetheless 11.50 AFF on the gas scale should be about 7.61 AFR on the E85 scale.

11.50 AFR on the E85 scale would be about 17.35 AFR on the gas scale.

Schwanke engines, K1 rods, Wiseco pistons, aluminum block and let Tim make it right. Best deal I know of. PS ask him about Callies. LOL

How does that compare to the LSX376B?

Also Is it worth upgrading / spending much money on LS3 heads over the LS1 when your forced induction?

Engine would barely run at that AFR. Forget about hurting it. Too lean to have enough BTU's of energy.

Remember o2's read oxygen content not fuel so if his WB said 11.5 on e85 the AFR was most likely in the 7:1 range.

Every E85 tune I did on a boosted LSX's was 12.0. My own 16 psi Z I tuned for 12.2, ran it hard for years on 12.2, 11.5 gas scale is too rich for E85 IMHO.
I always tuned in Lambda tho but everyone always wanted their gauges to read in AFR gas scale. I hate AFR gas scale for any tuning with E85 Its just crazy to even look at it.

I totally agree, Lambda is considerably easier to work with.

My dyno queen 383 made right around 1000whp on a ls6 block and others have done the same with 5.7 AL blocks, but it's right up to the max and I wouldn't be beating the snot out of it at that level a lot. I think it would have made more, but the dyno is easy on stuff compared to racing. A rod/piston 5.7 deal will be just fine in the 800whp range though. 100lbs extra on the nose for a iron block is not a little amount when you factor in all the extra turbo crap you already have.

My car also runs in the 11.5-12.0 gas scale range on the corn we tend to get (e70-80 for the most part)
