Never a good sign when your motor looks like this 2 days after a completed build.

Fire slotted head. Good times.

The ERL block actually took it like a champ. No big damage to block or liners. Pistons toast though.
Looks like it's been detonating very badly, who was attempting to tune it ?

A local shop in DFW area. I prefer not to get in the middle of anything at this point. Just glad to be in greener pastures.

Now let's get on to some fun stuff. once we got the motor out prep work began on making the engine bay look like it should. The wire mess was cut out and the engine bay way prepped and primed.

Engine bay getting cleaned up and ready for paint.

Piano Black on the top of inner fender wells. Part of the overall plan for a nice clean under hood look.

Here's an up close of the mystery hole in the frame.

Bret had a patch ready in no time.

Welded in and ready for grinding.

All fixed up and ready for paint.

Nasty front engine cradle.

A little sweat and a power washer can do wonders.

Gonna look better this time.

Bret couldn't help but make my steering rack look better too. a little grinding.

Then a fresh coat of paint.

Thanks man! I see your from Houston. I grew up there and spent every dollar I had on performance parts so i could try and go hang on Rankin Rd back in the day. That city's street racing culture made me the horsepower addict that i am today. Hope to be tearing up the streets down there soon.

Thanks for choosing me to be a part of your build. It's truly an honor. I can't wait til it's done so we can go out and see what she'll do.

Dropping in the forged LS6. Turns out that this motor will be a placeholder for the 427. Will work great for mock up though.<br/>

Just hanging out.

Check out these custom Katech valve covers. The have had all the holes shaved and then powder coated. Also notice the welded in AN fitting for crankcase ventilation.

another view

Intake was also cleaned up and painted. Too bad I won't be using it. lol

epic! I went through this with my car that turned into a nightmare of blown up stuff and horrible work after i bought it but then took some time and redid it all with good stuff done right and it's glorious now to drive around with big power and zero worries.

you ever figure out exactly what made the old motor pop? bad tune?

Congrats Eric. She's going to be a bad machine when it's on the road. Can't wait to take a ride in it.

With big power in the future the intercooler was addressed next. After some discussion with Bret we decided to turn my baby into a front breather. Bret got to work custom fabbing a new cradle that would allow us to move the new 4.5" custom intercooler up closer to the front and creating a ton of space between the intercooler and radiator. We also wanted to move the radiator to a more upright position to increase airflow. O used to have overheating issues in the hot Texas summers when running the AC. I believe this will solve the problem. Custom shrouding is being fabrictaed to box in the IC and force all of the air from the front fascia thru. In addition we will be boxing in the space between the IC and radiator and feeding more air to the radiator from the bottom. We will finish things out by venting the hood. I'm hoping that this will keep things nice and cool.

New 4.5" IC

4" in/out

V band clamp welded up.

Time for some frame surgery. Gonna make some room for some airflow.

Things just got real. Gonna box in the cut once we are done.

Starting to build the 4" in. Gonna keep the run nice and short between our F2 and the intercooler.

Almost done. Just need to add the blow off valve.

Almost done. I will be ceramic coating this pipe black to finish things off.

Bret managed to clear my large Pfadt sway bar with the 4" pipe.

Look how much space was created by custom bracket. We may end up mounting the radiator completely vertical for optimal airflow.

Now its time to fead the beast. We boxed in the IC to match the opening of the tigershark front end.

the front bumper support foam was trimmed so that the front bumper would have plenty of support at high speeds.

Time for some intake piping.

Starting to look like a real engine bay again.
