Default Bye bye V3SI .Welcome New YSI !!! So what engine now ???

Hello hello,

To keep things simple and short, i was gonna do another built , something like a 402 with lsa heads and keep my v3si.But after some intensive reading and some nice feedback for all of you i decide that this blower was way to small for the new cubic inch so i cancel the heads order and....Received my new Black YSI yesterday with the new billet tensionner bracket and new A&A secondary drive(Thanks to Andy @ A&A Corvette).

Now i need to decide wich engine i need.Do i stay with my first idea 402 or go smaller (stock stroke 364ci) or bigger ???
I already got all the new cover :ls2 front cover with cam sensor, new ls2 valley cover,ls3 intake with ls2 TB , ls9 head gaskets, all the fittings, extensions, adaptors and gasket.

Some basic specs:

Intake: LS3 with ls2 90mm tb
Fuel : RSI dual walbro hanger
Injectors: Deatshwerk 90lbs (not bought yet so i can go bigger)
Blower: YSI with 2.85" pulley
Crank damper: 8" IW new style A&A secondary drive
Cam: Smallest i can go to match a stock cam feeling, i wanna be able to do some 600 miles road trip in the 70mph range @ 1300-1500rpm, not battleling the car in heavy traffic and parking lot, let the blower do the job.6800rpm shift point.

Rest of specs are in sig, got all the supporting mods and will dump the cats.Trans and diff are bullet proof and will go with a mantic twin.

-So what would be a good suggestions of engine built that wont break the bank. I mean 5k range for a short block and maybe 2.5-3k for heads ???
-And also what CR ???

Thanks
Eric

Since you already have everything for the power (A&A Ysi), so why not go for the torq?

Stroked LS3 of course.

I went 5.3L iron block after my LS3 let go. Was cheap even with forged internals. Its a beast with the Ysi and 25psi

Well would it be better in stock stroke 376 ci or go 4 inch stroke to get a 416ci ???
There is roughly 1k difference between a 402ci ls2 and a 416ci ls3...Worth the cost ???

Thanks for the input but i wont go smaller than stock and like i wrote, i already bought all the cover/Intake/adapter for a gen lV block.
I also already know that my futur cam choice will cost me some whp to get what i want i term of driveability so its probably a better move to go for a bigger Ci.

Running a LS2 based 402 with a YSI. Even with a baby cam that idles like stock it makes tons of power. I like the combo a lot. I'm running about 10:1 compression.

I dont know what power i will reach or boost that i will hit but with the 8" damper and 2.85" blower pulley i should hit 66000rpm @ 6800rpm so im hoping for a huge gain over my last setup.

-With that CR is the car more sluggish in city driving(under 3500rpm)?
-Do i need to have the main "pinned" ?
-Do i need to have the block driller for 1/2 studs ?
-Do i need to use some expensive stuff like Callies dragon/magnum/Oliver or some K1 stuff would do the job ?

Im not trying to cut the corner, if i need it i ll pay for it.

Thanks

You should hit near 1000 rwhp with that setup, but my post was more about engine size and compression. Not sluggish at all, and I am on a 3.0 pulley.

When I built the engine, I wasn't thinking 1000hp. Have dragonslayer and ultra billet rods and its been fine, but I don't race the car so it doesn't get abused often.
If building for that setup, and plan on really pushing it hard, I would go with something like an LSX block and good internals. For my use wich is just street fun, the LS2 block is holding up fine. No pinned mains or 1/2 inch studs on mine.

Mine is also a street fun car that will be driven with some kind of spirit
It will maybe see a 1/2 miles event at Bromont once a year just for fun.

I guess ill keep my first idea and build a ls2 403 with lsa heads.Maybe ill have the mains pinned while im there.
Will keep it your suggested 10:1 CR .
Mine will be tune on 91 gas since 94 is not always available and when i do get 94 i often get some bad old batch.

Thanks
