Not good at all, check your hose ends and be safe!!! I have two on my custom power steering cooler.

What kind of hose was it? I've always seen you're supposed to match up the hose brand to the hose end brand or else what happened here happens.

Never mix and match these parts.

Always use the hose supplied by the fitting manufacturer.

And I would never use shitty nitrile rubber/stainless braided hoses for anything unless it was a last resort.

Oddly on a lot of those, the rubber seems to deteriorate and fail far sooner than any other type of hose.

Interesting topic. I just had this happen to me on my transmission cooling line. The hose didnt pull out, but was leaking under pressure at the hose fitting. When I took it apart, it didnt look like there were bite marks in the hose, even though it was seated all the way.

I dont believe it was a Summit fitting though. I will look when i get home and see what brand.

I am replacing all the braided crap with hard tubing. Hopefully i will end my issues with tranny fluid leaks.

***EDIT***It was a summit hose fitting.

Yeah I found that out about 5-6 years ago when I was putting a customers car together and gave them a try. All but like two leaked. Called them and they replaced them with Earls and didn't even ask for them back. They didn't question me sort of like they already knew or I wasn't the first to have that issue. Since then well its been XRP, Earls, or Fragola only for me.

I bought a Summit brand -10 90 degree swivel and it leaked at the swivel end. Called up Summit and they replaced it for free. The replacement didn't leak so I guess it's hit or miss with their fittings.

I never use house brands anymore, there is a reason the jegs/summit brands are so much cheaper... I tried using them before and for the life of me could not get them to stop leaking... I happened to come across redhorse performance fittings and I love those, that's all I use now assuming they have what I need and if not I will go with a well known name brand

I've had Summit AN hose ends and couplers with scratches/damage on the flare sealing surface right out of the box. No quality control.

American-made Fragola doesn't cost much, if any more, and it's always good.
