Yes it's machined from a solid block off aluminium. The installer tried to shrink it on with the pump in place, but after some testdriving they saw that it had turned a fraction on the shaft, so today the pump is coming off to secure the fit. As the installer said; this pulley will never brake, but the only problem could be walking on the shaft.

As for price, I'm not sure yet. Cheaper than a new pump at least.
The picture is a standard jpeg taken with my phone uploaded from the computer via the attachment management.

well, you made my day. i imagine the guy holding the hot pulley somehow in the engine bay trying to get it on the shaft before it grabs. just crazy. so how will they get it off now? and how does one "secure the fit"? you can hardly make it smaller, right?

no idea if you can disassemble the pump, but the only option i see is keying it onto the shaft. you could also "pin" it like the balancer, but i dont see this happening.

also aluminum blocks must be growing on trees up north, as you say cheaper than a replacement pump. does the belt run on the small diameter?

about the picture, its weird. i sometimes see small, unclickable, green boxes. this is on several computers and several forums. anybody an idea what the problem is and a solution?

Drill and pin it to the shaft, or a grub screw etc...

Although if a steel bell is breaking, not really sure how well an Alloy pulley will stand up ?

As I've understood he will somehow drill and pin somehow, I will keep you posted on how it works. As of alu vs OE, the latter is cast not forged...
Romandian; Norway is Europes largest producer og primary aluminium, so we got enough :-)

Actually, before I got kids, I used to go to the alps to ski every winter. Allthough usually Austria and France, Switzerland is so expensive....almost as expensive as Norway

Finally back on the road 😁
The first try did not work, so they made a new. Should be rock solid with a hub and a screw on pulley. The hub is pinned right through the wp axle.
Should be good.
