Default getting 2 different fuel pressure readings.

I noticed awhile ago my prosport fuel pressure gauge on my pillar reads 45psi I was like wtf?!?! I popped the hood and looked at my aeromotive and it reads ~60. I swapped my Prosport sensor out for another and it reads the same 45.

The prosport senor is mounted on the driver side rail and the adjustable aeromotive is read off the passenger side(it's a return style) I have had issues with prosport sensors before but this is another brand new one. Any idea what the issue is?

I guess I could get a fuel pressure tester and get another reading from a different gauge but just curious why it would do this or what else could I check?

2 completely different gauges and sensors....until you test them against a known pressure source you cannot expect them to read exactly the same.

Of course they should....but chances are they wont. Although that's a pretty substantial difference.

In the absence of a known source to test them all too, can you try swapping sensor positions to see if readings stay the same or they move too ?

Ill see if the prosport will fit on thh other one and vice versa. If not Ill try moving the prosport over to the passenger side and flip the fittings. yeah it's a big difference in FP I could see 1-2psi but 15-20...no way

how are you feeding the sensors? do they both need 5v?

If one was supplied with his gauge, the gauge should be providing all power for that sensor.

The other, you would assume it is wired as per instructions and has been calibrated so it is correct with whatever it is being read with.

1 gets provided 12v. The other screws onto the regulator. I was able to swap them I put the prosport sensor on the regulator and just extended the power wires and the regulator one where the prosport was which just screws on. They both read 60psi. I swapped them back and the prosport is back in the 40's..wtf!? I'm gonna swap gauges with someone else's car or try to. Very odd definitely not a voltage source issue since it read 60 when I screwed it into the regulator port and provided the same power wires to them.

It would be very very unusual for any pressure type sensor to be fed an un-regulated 12v, or unregulated any voltage.

But most 3 wire sensors of that nature would generally use a 5v reference.

Can you screw a couple of mechanical gauges in ? Or make some sort of test rig ?

This is a 2 wire sensor...one of them is a mechanical gauge it's the one on the regulator. I will have to get a -an fitting to test from a actual fuel pressure tester. I have one but the fitting are incorrect.

I wouldnt trust any cheap 2 wire sensor to be accurate.

Yeah may switch to a autometer.

Use a sensor that is appropriate for whatever device you are reading it on.

I've seen a lot of guys complaining about the inaccuracy of their prosport gauges on the Subaru forums that I am a part of. My innovate and defi fuel pressure gauges have always been dead on with my FPR mounted mechanical gauge.
