Default 17" tire size

I have read a lot of the threads talking about the 275/40r17 and the 315/35r17 trying to figure out which ones to go with.

My car is twin turbod frc making 515rwhp aftermarket clutch. Should I do the 275 or the 315? I would like to be able to use them on the street too since my car is not a full drag car.

FWIW, I am running 275 40 17 MT ET Streets on the street and I cant hook at all without a decent burnout first. 650+ rwhp. I will be going to a 315 or 335 next time around. Luckily these tires only last about 3000 miles and I can wait it out.

315 just has 14.5% more tire patch width than a 275. It'll help but it's probably not going to do much. 275 should be fine for 515 rwhp.

my car spins first bad on a 315/35/17 Hoosier but if ive been driving a few miles i can hook from any speed in second. never tried a 275 on the car. FWIW my 305/45/17 ET Street Rs hooked from a dig or first gear roll everytime regardless of burnout, but the didnt slow my accel down a little bit in 2nd gear rolls. Im 670+ at the wheels

Just found your post from last December. What rims did you have the 17" ET Street R's on? C5 base, Z06 or custom wheels? Did they stick out from under the car? Pics?

Thanks
