Default 3.73 gears with a procharger

Im in the process of doing some major driveline mods and as part of the process i bought a used 3 rib differential with 3.15 gears. Well to make a long story short apparently the previous owner had shown some love to the Diff and replaced the ring and pinion to 3.73 which was way more gear than i thought i would need. Im curious if others have used gears that low in an A4 and how it behaved ? The car has a new level 6 RPM transmission, 1 7/8 lg superpros, 3200 circle D stall, and of course the 8 rib D1 procharger along with Drag radials hopefully they will keep it planted. Anyway just looking for any sage advice or experiences from others who have run similar setups.

This will not be much help, but thought I would mention it. I had 4.10's in a m12 at 611/532 and it was waaay to much gear. 4th gear is where I would find traction...not a very fun car at that time.

Tire Size, RPM Shift point, 1/4 or 1/2? The below link may help you with your setup.
But I really think with good traction the car will have a very strong hit at any RPM.

if you run a 28" tire you will be fine.

My C5 is an M6 w/ 3.91, but I have run 3.73s with a couple cars w 700R4 and a mild lockup stall that worked great.
Im sure someone would trade you a 3.42 but question if .31 ratio difference is worth the hassle given what a bitch it is to change in these cars.

BTW both ran 28" DRs- street tires may be another story

Thanks for the input guys, currently running M/T street SS 285-40-18 on the back which is a 27" tire. Looks like i'm kinda stuck with the 3.73 gears for the time being, even with those tires i'm thinking going to have to ease into it from a dead stop. Should hit the dyno tomorrow then be heading home so ill post my thoughts on it once I get it home and get a chance to see how it is going to react if anyone is interested. Again thanks for all the advice I love this site no matter what you want to do, someone on here has already given it a try and is more than happy to share their experience.

Default update

Let us know how it turned out on the dyno. Have you taken it to the track yet?

523 RWHP on the dyno, has more in it but need to switch to speed density to wring the rest out of it my stock MAF is pegging out. That being said I’ve only kinda got onto it a couple times since I brought it home I need to add more transmission cooling before I really push it. I hadn’t been able to get enough clean air into the trans cooler so I’m adjusting that set up. My intial thoughts after mashing that pedal was “ Oh sweet Jesus” very impressive throttle response really woke the car up but I wouldn’t try it wiithout sticky’s on the back, street tires would melt to the rims lol
