Which Cam to get pre-A&A Supercharger on a 2004 C5 Z06?
Hey guys, I am eventually going to get an A&A Supercharger kit on my C5 Z06, but want some added power in the mean time with a Cam. Which Cam would work best for the future Supercharger Mod and what power gains can I expect from just the cam? Are there specific cams I should look for given the future mod or will any work? Recommendations?
I have Headers, X Pipe, No Cats, Corsa Extreme and dynoed at 382/370 so far.
Let me Know, open to all suggestions! What have you guys got?

114lsa is about as tight as I’d go. Sounds cammed but doesn’t bleed off too much boost.
Get one with more exhaust overlap to help clear the cylinders. Like a 224/228 or 232/236 etc.
Plenty of off the shelf cams to choose from. Comp 224/228 .588 .588 114lsa would sound cammed, run great N/A (almost stock manners) and also boosted.
115lsa (or higher) sounds more stock unless you have a lot of duration which has low rpm cam surge (bucking/surging in parking lots idling around) issues and sloppy low/mid rpm manners in favor of high rpm rage.

Overlap tells you how lumpy the idle will be, but LSA really doesn't - unless you do some math that includes the durations. As the lobes get bigger, you get more overlap for a given LSA.
224/228 at 114 would have -2 degrees of overlap - no overlap at all, and 2 degrees would pass in between the closing of the exhaust valve and the opening of the intake valve.
232/236 at 114 would have 6 degrees of overlap. To get the same overlap as 224/228@114, you'd need an LSA of 118.
To get 6 degrees of overlap with a 224/228, you'd need an LSA of 110.

Also would something like a BTR Stage 4 cam or Torquer 4 or Vengeance Vindicator or VrX3 be out of the question if I plan to supercharge it? Ideally I want a nice deep sound with some cam noise but I want to avoid the cams that sound like the car is about to shut off if that makes sense.

The LSA on that cam is really low for forced induction. A good rule of thumb is not to go below 115 LSA because with forced induction you'll end up blowing all the forced air right out the exhaust when the LSA is that low. For an N/A setup, a lower LSA will give you more power higher in the RPMs because the exhaust gasses help suck air from the intake on their exit. But forced induction pushes the air into the chamber. Since the lower LSA means the exhaust valve will be open longer while the intake valve is open, you'd be pushing some of that air right back out the exhaust port until the exhaust valve shuts.
So the short answer is, you might want to find a cam with a higher LSA.

I agree get this cam here a lot of vendors in here has copied the spec of Arun cam due to the horse power it has done in both N/A & blower set up.
This cam you can also live with as a street cam also.. Robert

Cam Motion has a really nice app for Windows that lets you enter the durations and LSA, and it will calculate the open/close angles and the overlap. I've been using it a lot as I take notes about what sorts of results people report from their cams: http://www.cammotion.com/cam-timer
Also, if you have two engines with the same overlap but different displacement, the one with more displacement will have a smoother idle. Displacement sort of compensates for overlap in that way. So if you're comparing idle performance, its best to focus on results from engines with the same displacement as your own.
