Default Question on 3.8 vs 3.6 pulley

Guys,

I an looking for at the A&A system right now. My 99 has under 20,000 miles. It's pretty showroom, actually. I added long tube headers, ls6 intake, ported throttle body, 3200 stall converter, cat back exhaust, tuning, its lowered, f14s, aftermarket sway bars. There are other things but those would come off when the sc goes on.
I would like to touch 500rwhp if possible with the supporting mods above. What I am more concerned about is keeping the power level in check to my engine in one piece. I do not plan to go higher then the 500rwhp. I do not want meth. I have 93 octane here in Jersey.
So, what do you guys think I can squeeze out of a standard A&A system or at least what are your experiences? I am told I may be better off with a 3.6 vs the standard 2.8 pulley. With the 3.6 I may see 10 or 11 psi.
Would it be safer to go with the 3.8 at 8 to 9 psi and could I still see 500? I know it has alot to do with the tune and I would want a conservative tune to be "safer".
The car is only a weekend toy and may see the track just to see the 1/4. It may be on drags, but no line lock...
So I am sure I will not get the most out of it, but that's ok..
Oh, one more thing, with the ls6 intake, I have the block offs in the back of the engine for the coolant passages. The ls1 intake had the coolant crossover tube. Is that a major issue as many folks claim that cyl 7 is an issue with the additional power of the sc...
So what do you guys think????

The biggest thing with getting these to live is usually 99% in the tune. I ran a 3.6 with my Ls6 in 91/meth with a cam and was over 650 leaning on it hard.

Boost is also addicting as hell and most dudes end up re pulling to the 3.6 after a few months anyway. My vote is start with the 3.6 if you have a good tuner and just enjoy the extra power vs the 3.8. It shouldn’t really be much of a difference anyway. I know it wasn’t when I went 3.6 to 3.4

ok, cool....did you stay with a stock engine for long? Did you have any issues or if you have an auto did you need it upgraded?

I have an 04 with the 3.8 pulley and 60 lb injectors. The only other mods is a full exhaust with no cats. Dyno’d at 524 whp. I’ll be switching to the 3.6 once I get a clutch out in this thing...

Mine makes that now, with a 4.25 pulley, stock LS6, 42 lb injectors, with kooks long tubes, high flow catts, and B&B axle backs. 93 pump gas.

you can always put a restrictor in front of the blower, like ecs does.

Yeah, I know the A&A KIT does not use restrictors so I am trying to use what comes within the kit....Thanks though
