so after a chat with folks wiser than me, i learned how much more this gearing change would transfer load to the rear end & clutch just to save a little gear spread, so unless i was building it all up for WOT in OD, i'd be better off just sticking with 3.42s & normal MN6 gearing and using taller tires to adjust my final drive (because there's more forgiveness there).

I have an 01 Z06 twin turbos 650-700rwhp. I also had 3.73s useless. I changed to a 3.15 and added 305-45-17 ET Street Rs. Wheels on back are stock size fronts 17x9.5. Had to remove brake duct to fit otherwise perfect. Dead hook 1st on the street. 3rd to 4th is a non issue. But I eventually would like a TR6060 so 1st and 2nd can be longer.

Very interesting and good info. I bet that thing flies if it can hook at low speeds. I would be happy to just get usable traction in 2nd gear and up... My short term plan is to get better tires, probably the R888R, and then in the long term look at a gearing change.
