Default C5 A&A 3.6 V3Si Build - Video A thru Z

Guys,
For those of you thinking about a supercharger install and wanting to know what you would be getting into doing it yourself - I put together a fairly complete series documenting my install.

Here is a playlist from that covers everything from why I went with an A&A supercharger through all steps of the install all the way to the test drive.

No regrets!

Thanks for posting thiis!

I’ve been on the fence about this for about 2 years now...LOL

Mine is an 04 twin to yours...it’s too easy to picture my car boosted now😎

sounds like your your car is dead stock (other than the supercharger)?

do you still have the stock exhaust?

At what throttle position (ie 1/4,1/2 full, etc) do you start to see boost?

have you had a chance to check MPG
(well, after the wot runs anyway &#128513?

AGAIN, Thanks posting this

Everyting posted I’ve read is a full in combo,
heads,cam, plus plus plus

Bill

Bill,
Thanks for thanks! I too was on the fence for a couple of years and researched the heck out of this kit prior to pulling the trigger.

Mine is pretty much dead stock. Exhaust mod bypass for a little more growl is about it. No headers. I plan to keep the car for a while and do not like the way continued heat treats wires and components under the hood - mid to long term. back in the 80's stock manifolds were horrible, lucky for us, C5 Exhaust manifolds breath very well.

Anytime you give it enough throttle to drop engine vacuum the blowoff valve closes and you go into boost. very low boost at 2-3000 RPMS, and it continues to build as you go up in RPMs. I think I am at 14psi at 6500RPMs. MPG is not affected by a material amount at part throttle & low load.

I could do a cam in the future but I really do not want to hurt low rpm torque and for now it has enough mid to upper HP. Going to play with E-40 fuel this summer and see if it can get a nother 20-45 HP out of it as is by increasing the timing knock limit. I dont have enough fuel pump for E-85 so I will play with a lower blend.

If you are happy with your power that's great but doing a cam is not necessarily going to hurt your low end torque. Especially being boosted you do not need a huge cam. The smaller cams equivalent of whatever parts places calls their stage 1 or 2 cams would give you very nice power and torque gains all through the curve. It will make the engine breath better, decrease boost pressure while gaining power. The C5 manifolds might be decent but you are leaving a lot of power on the table with them as well. If heat is your concern you can have them ceramic coated and then wrap them with heat wrap as well. Again this would let the engine breath better. Gaining power and torque all through out while lowering boost pressure.

Sir, you make good points.
The other thing is this. I have to keep it interesting. If I do ALL the mods now, what am I going to do next year (:-).
The C5 has to hold me over until some point in the future I can afford a used C8.
Mid engine will be able to use the power better than the C5 - thats when I will go for 1000HP.

Oh, and one more thing. As we all know, Happy with a cars current setup - is a temporary thing...

Cheers!

TOYS videos made my decision easier to do the install myself...The videos are very helpful...I have a 99 and I left the rod bolts alone, but did swap the harmonic balancer, valve springs, rocker arm trunions, power steering pully and alt bracket...I felt like those were good things to change due to the additional power of a SC...

I am installing it now but the freezing weather slowed things up. I did most of the install and just need to install the tubes, sc, and sheet metal...oh, injectors and spark plugs will be last prior to the tune. All in all I am happy with the kit...

I was actually watching your videos the other day. I stumbled across them via youtube recommended videos. It's fun to watch your progress.

I'm on the fence on a blower or a cam in my car. My last car was a blown 4th gen Formula. Car before that was a cammed 4th gen Z28. I think I want to go back to the cam this time. But, the blower was so much fun on the streets. It'll probably be a random 3am weekend purchase while I'm awake with a new born.

Something about a ton of power but a decent cam, 6spd manual and lower gears would be a ton of fun on the street too.

Dang right. I'm leaning more to the cam with my car. Something about a LSX with LTs, and a decent sized cam at idle.

Have you pulled the trigger on the Cam?

I saw the videos also since I am also on a fence of getting the kit. Is your clutch stock? I feel like a clutch is a must when you do such an upgrade.
