I had to do the same for my ultrashield containment seat. Kicking the seat front up gave alot of upper back room and made it feel more open

Love you are doing it with a budget 4L80E.

Keep on keeping on with your bad self. Subscribing to this one for sure.

Cracking build! Can you confirm how you are running the pump gas / meth? Do you manually change them over or do you let the ECU do it? Is it a boost based cut over?

Highest ‘pump gas’ C5 maybe?... haha

This 4L80E was built by Rossler Transmission with a lot of aftermarket parts. That being said, I never asked Carl what/if he would put a power rating on it.

yes, the front of my Kirkey is elevated about 4" off the floor on stands, the rear is bolted to the floor, which leans the seat back slightly into a very comfortable position.

I'm not sure I would call it a "budget" 4L80E, the swap is costly, as are the parts inside the transmission, but I appreciate the compliment. thanks! It is certainly cool to go fast with an Overdrive transmission.

It uses a Haltech Elite 2500 and Race Expansion Module, the combination of the two yields 16 injector drivers, 8 for the primaries and 8 for the secondaries. It runs on pump E85 through the primaries until they reach a specific Duty cycle, then the Secondaries come online spraying M1 Methanol. Then at a higher Duty cycle the primaries shut off completely, and the car runs on straight M1. Then I lift off the throttle at the end of the track it immediately cycles back to E85 primary injectors and the M1 secondary injectors shut off. It's all automatic and works really well, better than I had hoped for. We have a few customers with Drag Week style cars that do similiar dual fuel systems with good success.

Once I get that sorted, then I'll work on getting more power in from 60' to 330' with the hope that it will run 7.xxx out the back.

Sounds like you could get into the 7s pretty easily with about 200lb of weight reduction

Sorry to hear of your fire, but Congrats on a heck of a build!

It’s a beautiful build. Best of success with it!

couple questions though.

Why did you clock the hot side like that? Could you have put the flange facing downward and have equal length piping from each collector?

I’m kinda surprised no motor plate setup?

I’m looking forward to more results!

Agreed I am sure it isn't cheap but it isn't a glide for once, which I like

I plumbed it like that to achieve the longest straight run into the turbine housing possible.

Good eye on the Motor Plate (or lack thereof) When I began the rebuilt it was going to be just a slightly more aggressive version of last years build; it snowballed from there, but somehow still ended up with stock mounts. It will likely get motor plate(s) the next time I have it apart for major work.

If/when I replace the 4L80 it will be a TH400.

Did this guy sign up and make 1 post to tell me I'm fat? LOL He's right of course... I need to lose a solid 150. What he doesn't know is we have actually added 100lbs of ballast to the rear of the car to help it hook, so there's more to it than simply weight reduction.

Just curious why you'd want a TH400 instead of a glide? Seems to be the way to go for easy of install and durability.

And no, I dont think that guy was calling you fat, just bad timing with the words.

1. The mechanical advantage of a 2.48 or 2.10 aftermarket 1st gear means I can run a higher (numerically lower) rear gear and run it out the back at a reasonable RPM ( at 170mph it's 7350rpm with 3.42 Gear, 275/60-15 and 4.2% convertor slip.)
2. stock case vs stock case, or aftermarket vs aftermarket the TH400 is bigger and stronger. Important for heavy car (w/ heavy driver, as previously pointed out LOL)

Good info, thanks!

Interesting. I thought there were aftermarket 1st gears available for the powerglide as well, but perhaps having the extra gear in between helps? I thought it would be more consistent only have 1 gear to shift as opposed to two.

Yes, you can get PG 1st gear ratios anywhere between 1.58 to 1.96 I think.

Thanks. I know I'm going to have to go that route eventually. I'll probably end up with a glide as I dont want the extra weight and cutting involved, and my car is still a street car. Shooting for the 4L60 record first.. not sure if that's going to happen
