Default Post Fire Disaster Rebuild: My 99FRC 2019 Build with 1350+whp

So in 2017-2018 I took a stock 99FRC, swapped in a built 5.3 engine with a VS S488 & 4L80E and ran 8.7's on C85 in a very streetable car.

Here's my previous build thread.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ld-thread.html

We had fun, won a few races, competed in the OKC Daily Driver for Street Outlaws race with Dominator behind the wheel and had a lot of fun.

Unfortunately during a pass at the track, one of the fuel fittings on the regulator loosened and started an engine fire that burned up most everything from the firewall forward.

For 2019 we planned a rebuild which would incorporate a roll cage, fire suppression, NHRA legal firewall, SFI 3.2A-15 Fire suit for me, as well as a new power plant and larger turbo to push the car into the low 8's (maybe into the 7's)

Here's the general rundown of the 2019 re-build and some pictures below for your amusement:

Subscribed.... excellent work. Why didn't you put the main hoop through the rear bulkhead wall directly on top of the frame rails? That's what we do in road race C5s. Tanks fit back in fine.

Ok, so now for the results:

On the Hub dyno it put down 1357hp through unlocked 4L80E at ~27psi boost.

At the track it's been best of 1.23 60', [email protected] and [email protected] It's also been [email protected] and [email protected] I'm still working on getting the car to 60' and make it through the 0.400-0.600 area without spinning. Once I get that sorted, then I'll work on getting more power in from 60' to 330' with the hope that it will run 7.xxx out the back.

Here's a few timeslips, pictures and videos from the dyno and track.

I have never seen it done like that. I gave the chassis shop pictures of several roll cages in C5's, and he did his work from there.

I'll take that as a compliment.

Those are actually Glass/Carbon rear quarters from a CF Vendor (I don't remember who, it was over a year ago when I bought them) They took a considerable amount of time with a body saw and sander to make them fit. One of my friends suggested I leave the flare exposed Carbon, so when we painted them we tried it to see how it would look. My painter said if we didn't like it, he could always paint it solid. I'm considering having him repaint them with only half of the flare exposed carbon when he retouches a few other parts. Which other rear quarter options are you referring?

Here's a few pics of my road race C5Z just to show some differences. If you fit in your car it's moot. I'm 6'4" and needed every inch. Check out TPE and Lewis5 for full replacement quarter panels. I think there are another 2 vendors out there now.

Thanks. That Ignited my memory. My rear quarters are Carbon Creations Carbon Quarters from Quik Z06 on the forum . http://corvettecreationz.com/product...-z06-frc-vert/

I'm 6'1" and 370lb. We lowered the wide Kirkey seat to the floor and I fit really well into the car after doing that. Getting In/Out sucks, but once I'm in it's comfy.

Awesome build!

May I ask what the 4L80 is rated at? I was thinking of going that route but heard powerglides are much stronger?
