Can only speak as a drag racer, I have a SPEC 3,carbon fiber with aluminium flywheel. Real strong!! Wouldn't an aluminium F/W also help road course guys, exellerate out of the corners?
If you get REAL serious you may need a diff cooler setup. The sustained heat from road racing kills the C5 diffs, so Ive heard.

I know a few guys who are using Star stage 3 for drag racing but i'm thinking about going into course racing like Hallet in oklahoma. Would a stage 3 be ok to run in long course sessions our should I go for a Z06 clutch? I have heard that an aluminum flywheel will allow you you to rev quicker and pull out of corners faster. But i have also heard that an aluminum flywheel can not handle the stress of a well moddified car at the drags. A steel flywheel would be better to fun at the drag strip. I think aluminum for the course tracks and steel for the drag strips. But what clutch would be better for the race course? Thanks for the help.

Its funny cause I was just having this conversation with a couple of people during lunch today. DRAG RACING is a totally different ball game and you need a damn good clutch for that kind of fun.

I have had a Stage I LPE TT for 10 months and have Roadraced 4 times. When I first bought the TT Package, sooo many people said get this clutch, get that clutch. Instead, LPE and 21STCENTURYMUSCLECAR said just to get an 02 Z06 Clutch as long as I don't drag race. Even with roadracing, I haven't had one problem yet. Now maybe I'm lucky with clutches or maybe LPE and 21CMC know what they are talking about or maybe both since I don't dump the clutch either.

But I'm now stepping up to a Stage II+ (around 620 rwhp/740 flwhp) and once again, it has been recommended to stay with the 02 Z06 clutch as long as I'm not drag racing. I'll let you know where the clutch is in 6 mos.

Aluminium F/W, SPEC3,551rwhp(well modified, enough?) 1.56 60 ft on BFG 18" DR's NO CLUTCH problems.
If you NEVER "dump your clutch, you just might be OK with a stock Z06 set up.
