Re: Fuel Injector issues - Did i do something Wrong? (SmoothFRC)
I had the car up re-tuned... there were some issues on the graph and SVO 42# injectors were recommened over the stock ATI's (36 or 8's?)
Anyhow, he pre-programmed it for the 42's and i just installed them two nights ago.
Took the car to work this morning and the car bog's and is just very sluggish when the car get's into boost???
Did i do anything wrong? any idea's? - Very frustrated at this point.... ARGH...
Thanks
Couple things to look for...
- Sounds like the tuner did not correctly scale the IFR table. You want your LTFTs to be slightly negative in Fuel Trim Cells 6-14
- Did your tuner reset your LTFTs?
- Did your tuner adjust the PE mode for the new injectors to the best A/F ratio at WOT???
Re: Fuel Injector issues - Did i do something Wrong? (SmoothFRC)
Before you drive back I would check that you don't have a boost leak. Also, check if an injector is not seated properly. My car exhibited the exact same behavior when my #7 injector was not completely seated properly.

I seated and clipped them into the rail.... then just popped them in the intake and pushed all four corners of the rail and it seemed like they all popped in correctly.... there was no resistance to bolting the rails back down -
Re: Fuel Injector issues - Did i do something Wrong? (SmoothFRC)
It could be several things. Overall, it seems strange that he would tune for injectors you did not have in the car.
Here is what I would do for starters:
Disconnect that batt for 10 minutes. This should reset your LTFTs. It is possible that your fuel trims were very positive running too small of an injector for what the IFR tables said. This could cause a very rich condition in PE/WOT.
I would also verify that all the injectors seated down into the manifold properly. I have used a rubber mallet before on mine (just don't go crazy with it). Also verify the wiring and the connectors (shorts are pretty common).

If and injector was not seated properly (I actually just went out and turned and pushed down on them a little) Wouldnt the car read lean or rich on the banks????
Just curious?
Also, should i have seated them into the intake - and THEN connected the fuel rail opposed to how i did it (lock the injectors in the rail then connect to intake).

No.... I work with computers and all - but scared of my car, I was going to get LS1edit but figured i would leave this up to the professionals - especially since i am not really that radical.
I see the need for it if i start getting more involved - but it is basically a stock motor with the procharger... that's it... so I just imagined from day one that it would be a "easy / safe" tune and i should not have to worry about a scanner and such..
I think i will look into it - especially with all the little things lately.
I guess i have you guy's here to help me through the learning process
Re: Fuel Injector issues - Did i do something Wrong? (SmoothFRC)
Hopefully you got this resolved by now. I had the exact same problem when I went from 42s to 75s. The fuel rate table needed to be updated to reflect the size of the injectors. The first tuner only changed pulse width it seems. Get it fixed soon or you'll replace plugs and O2 sensors, maybe cats.
When in boost the car was big time boggy, black smoke, and to top it off, on the trip home from the first tuner, my (previously) 522rwhp monster got blown off on the freeway by a green metalflake late '80s mustang with gold wire wheels. Not racing, but he didn't let me merge.
