Kevin I was down at Extreme and saw your car through the window. Is it done turning yet? What are the results?

I think they will have time to work on yours next week...I am sitting in a holding pattern. We got more Turbo sizing to do. If I wanted an all out drag setup I would leave it as is. But that is not what the majority of C5 owners want, so we are going to swap in some more Turbos. The PT52s dropped the rpms down so that max boost was achieved at 3700rpms...the target range is 3200rpms..right where peak tq should be on an LSx. If I had a 427cid I would most likely keep the PT52s. But @346cid there is not enough exhaust energy to spin them up fast at the lower rpms. I talked to Mike and we had considered doing a hi boost run next week..but I am more concerned with drivability since I spend 90% of my time driving on the street...or maybe its 100% of the time being in the shop...either mine or somebody elses. So more testing...I already told PTK and they are going to get on it first thing Monday..they were at the Viper vs. Supra event in Texas today. So by time the new Turbos drop ship from PTE, Xtreme probably won't get them until the following week....since I got more time than money...thats what I am left with.

waiting sucks but what ya going to do!

is it possible that if the car was driven on the road that rpms would come down as the dyno jet doesnt load real world? dyno jet only loads 1800lbs.

Lets see some dyno data!
How was it up top? The last 2 sets of turbos should have made good HP if there was 9psi by the time it got to where peak hp should be. This due to the very low backpressure ratio of oversized turbine side.

So, lets see some.

Phil,
The assumption you made earlier was correct with the PT52s (actually TE44s) it is soft because it is out of its "sweet spot" as you put it a previous post. I don't have a dyno sheet. With max boost occurrying at 3700 rpms and only a couple of lbs at 3000 rpms the tq is suffering. I don't have a dyno sheet but when its done there will be one posted...just like everybody else has done. Except I will post both hi and low boost runs.

All the hp numbers have been the same w/peak @6300 rpms...right around 540+/- 5 through the stock cats and 91 octane of course, but at 9lbs I don't even know if these Turbos are really working..they are probably good for 20-30lbs..but I will never see that. I will keep you guys posted. Like I mentioned earlier, I am concerned with getting good response...not having to launch it at 4000-5000 rpms to build max boost. Ideally I would like boost to start being produced about 2800rpms with full spool by 3200-3300...I suspect that will fix the tq.

do think te44 will get you where you wont to be? the cats can cause higher spool?

The turbine side is what dictates spool characteristics not the compressor side. Kit Design, tuning, exhaust (Cats, muffler type) configuration and load can have a huge impact on spool time. Its soft because of the exhaust housing and wheel selection.
The compressor "sweet spot" is on the wrong side of the map. Increasing boosts would only make it worse (moving out of the eff. zone) as your flowing to much air for a give pressure ratio. You could always shrink your motor to help.

Phil

I just updated compressor map to include the new data point. By only making 530-540ish your actually closer to the "sweet spot". The original data point was from the TTi Stage X and the assumption the PTK would make ~600rwhp at 9psi.
I would hold off on changing the compressor side and run it at higher boost levels to plot more data points. It may just need turbine side changes.

Now I'm really confused Hey Phil how are my eletric cutouts going to work on my TT setup? Is this really going to mess my back pressure up when they are wide open?

Decreasing exhaust restriction via cutouts will typically shorten spool time
