Default Z06 buying tips?

are there any tips concerning mechanical problems or other issues that someone new to vette's should be aware of?
I'm probably going to purchase a lowmiles 2002+ Z06 within the next 2 months...I'm in the Atlanta area

my 1st thread here! seems like a well informed site of people

Where exactly in the Atlanta area are you? I'm in Alpharetta.

The major issues striking these vettes would be leaking rear differential, column lock, and quirky fuel guages. My fuel guage seems to work fine as long as I use Chevron gas.

Overall they are solid, reliable cars. I'd recommend that you look for one still under factory warranty and then purchase a GMPP extended warranty for it, or one that's already covered by GMPP.

I live in Mableton right below Vinings and work in downtown ATL...are there a lot of Atlanta Z or coupe owners on the boards here?

I am all about good warranties so I'd love to find one with the extended warranty and probably wont even consider one that's not still under regular warranty

thanks for the heads up on the mechanical issues! just out of curiosity, does that rear differential problem affect the cts-v also?

Default Leaking

Also had the leak. Do not think it affected anything, just small leak. Had to drop rear spring on rear axle but did not take long. Working with small dealer in East TN, but very good tech man. Usually happens on drivers side of vehicle. 03 Z

the diffs aren't the same on the V....our Vs leak at the half-shaft, and the fix is a new diff. Some also whine, but I haven't heard that happening with the Zs
and hi2u buddy!
