Congrats. If you decide against leaving early on Saturday, you should take in Vettefest at McCormick Place downtown. Check out the Great Lakes section for more info.

Thanks all, I made it into Chicago tonight with no problems. Now I'm looking forward the seeing the Vette in the morning I had it checked out last week at a GM dealership and carfax report was very clean. Hopefully it's as good as reported. If all goes as planned, I'll post pictures (and change my avitar) in the very near future! That Vettefest sounds like a blast! I think I'll let the weather determind my fate. I may make it there yet. If I do go to the fest, I'll post my intentions and maybe I can meet some of you there.

Default It's Mine!!!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you folks. Yesterday I did buy the 97 C5 and kept busy all day with the wire transfer, insurance, and DMV. Today I've been busy driving all day. I put on 900 miles today departing Chicago at 6:30 a.m. and finally parked for the night in Elk City Oklahoma. That suckers getting 26.4 MPG. The best I ever got out of my CE was 21.5 MPG. Have have to say that with only 30k miles on the clock, it's like a brand spanking new car! I also have to tell you that this beast ROCKS Man is it a solid ride! I love it. I'm sure I'll always miss my CE, but this will certainly pacify me for a while. It's everything I hoped for. By the way, I bought it from forum member Lumberdog. I real stand-up, straight-shooting guy with a very nice family. The car was even better than how he represented it. I really couldn't have asked to deal with a more fair and honest person. It was a pleasure to meet his family, and a pleasure to do business with him.

Thanks for the well wishes all. Tomorrow I'm going to try to put 1000 mile on the road. May see CA by late evening

Since this is a Chicago car, do they still have the strict smog requirements in CA. I remember CA cars always had alot more smog crap on them.

Well after driving 16 hours today and logging 1200 miles ... I'M HOME That was quite the road trip and I loved every minute of my time spent with her. She never skipped a beat. What an incredible car! First thing tomorrow morning she'll get a top to bottom detailing. She's got to know she's appreciated right?
