I'm going to install a K&N Intake on my '02 Coupe in about 10 days. What type of gains will I really get? Will I really notice a difference? Is it worth the expense (about $300)? It's not too late to change my mind and $300 could buy a lot of coffee........
im new so i really dont know...i installed the halltech stinger and mangaflow exhaust w/ x and it barely did anything...sure wasnt worth the 1400...then i went and got a tune/edit...that made all the difference in the world...it made all the costs worth while...
NO....You won't notice a Huge difference YET....But it's all part of the BIG PICTURE...........More air in....more air out = Horsepower and
Horsepower = $$$$$
How Much do you want / need ?
Good Luck because it's addictive

Personally, I think you should get a ZO6 airbox cover and K&N filter. Al lot less $$ and just as much bang. FWIW.
An intake is usually worth 15-20 hp. You'll feel a little gain, nothing that's going to make you ooou and ahhh or anything. No offense, but if you're really worried about a $300 mod, I would say keep the car stock. Once you start modding it gets very addictive.

My first performance mod was the Halltech Stinger, I did feel a slight SOTP difference in the upper RPM range. Later on I added a set of Bassani X-pipe & Z06Ti exhaust - great sound but no perceptible performance gains. BUT THEN I got a LS1 edit, really optimized the mods and netted 330rwhp & 349rwtq on my 01 MN6 vert. Next stop: LT headers!

You probably won't feel much of a difference with just the intake, but as others have said, it's all part of a package. Once you add other things (headers, high flow cats, mufflers, etc.) the package will come together better. You'll probably notice more noise from the engine as more air is sucked in.
I appreciate the responses; sounds like that first free sample of Heroin....once you start you need bigger and bigger hits.....I appreciate the rational and helpful responses...
That kn package is way overpriced for what you get. The Blackwing can be had quite often for around $160 and will give you all the boost the KN will.
The other option is to just "swiss cheese" your stock box and use the AC paper filter, you WILL notice a difference. I have an extra stock box if you don't want to cut yours. PM me if you want it.
