Grond Stereo Install finally completed (Pix - dialup beware)
For all of you that have been following my torturous stereo install over the last 2 months (yes, it has taken more than 2 months!!), it is finally completed. And what a relief it is after all the frozen extremities, twisting, grunting and general frustration.
All the tedious details are chronicled here in excruciating detail for those interested - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1009771
It was well worth the effort. First, Reflectix on the tunnel and Frost King EVERYWHERE else (even the overhead hoop), then DynaMat Extreme in the doors, then the fabrication, painting, fitting, wiring, refitting, rewiring, breaking things, fixing things......... it was all worth it to me.
It kicks and I'm very pleased with the results of my labour of love.
Here are the pics without further preamble and drivel.

More Pix..
One of my criteria was that I must be able to store the roof - DONE!!
Window Shade for stealth
Stealth from the rear
Stealth from the front
Thanks again to Z06-JIM for this wonderful idea!
Installed garage door opener under console while I had everything apart. Other button is for surface to surface missiles for "45 in the fast lane" drivers

Nice, how well did everything go back together? Any extra squeks and creeks? I am going to do some upgrades to the stereo, which is to say the whole thing, next winter and will be using the same flush mount kit for the head unit, looks sweet.
Great post

So, I have to buy a couple of interior plastic bits now, but Oh well, it was very minor annoyances that can be replaced.

Components cost just over $2200. Labour was priceless. Don't know if I would do this again in the same way. Discovered many better ways to do things as I went through this exercise but I still wouldn't want to do it again

I have a Viper pager alarm that was professionally installed (read : NOT by me!!). That and with the Rear Window Shade and removeable face plate on the head unit, it just looks like a stock stereo. I'm careful not to have the music blasting while pulling into car parks anyway. Learnt those lessons in England where property crime is astronomical.
