Default NEED advice on engine UPGRADE/SWAP

here is the scoop, got a 98 vert A4, 103k, only thing left stock was bottom end and tranny. got all possible boltons, g5x3, headers, intake, ghl, installed the AFR 205 , test drive, no prob, 1 day later, clanging noise from engine, rpm related, the more rpm the louder it is. installer thinks lifter, and stock oil pump, both replaced, still noisy, now were saying spun rod bearing , what are my options(used low mile z06 block and swap everything over) less labor and time involved. or ??? found a member on forum selling 2001 z06 block $1,500 with 1,500 miles, only problem with that was the oil consumption problem, don't want that, need a solution like yesterday, ready to buy (at right price) and ship immediately next day or 2 . thanks all.

Gotta ask, what's wrong with your current vette? Looks like it's in pretty d**n good shape to me! As for the 98 vert 103K (miles?) I certainly would not consider that at all regardless of all the mods.

I'd go with option "B" IMHO.

Good luck with your decision.

the 98 vert is mine, and i'm looking for a LS6 ENGINE BLOCK 2002 and newer with low miles, mine has taken a dive and need to replace asap.

Sorry I misunderstood the post. I read a little closer and have to say that you've answered your question in the thread. It appears that you're in a rush to make the move. If you buy the slightly used Z06, you will have to move everything over from current ride, which could take a while. You may as well go with the z06 block. As for the oil consumption, there's always a solution.
