Going to have the Royal Purple Synchromax, put in the Z this Friday, I will post results after driving for a bit.

I wonder who actually manufactures the GM Synthetic Diff Fluid?? I'm sure GM doesn't actually produce it.

I can't tell you about the Royal Purple ATF, but I've been using Mobil 1 Synthetic for some time now and it is definetely an improvement in smoothness. Also, Mobil 1 was just recently approved by GM as a replacement to the factory fill.

I had Royal Purple Synchromax, put in my Transmission, Friday. The first time, I got in the car, and shifted from 1 to 2 , and can tell it was smoother, and easier to put into first gear. Well only time will tell, if it get better, after it been in there a while, but I notice an improvement already.

I have RP in my tranny and diff. I also use RP oil for the motor. The stuff works great, car feels like new after all fluid changes.

Will using Royal Purple void the warranty if there is a transmission problem? I'd love to use this product as there seems to be a lot of enthusiasm for it here but having just spent hard earned money for an extended warranty on my 02 Z, I don't want to but that in jeopardy. Thanks for any comments............Tom

Tom,

The best thing to do his check with your dealership, that you got the warranty from, and ask them if changing the fluid to Royal Purple will void the warranty. I have had the fluid in for about a month, it is better, than what was in there stock.

If the fluid meets the minimum specs you are good to go.

Even though my baby only has 8,100 miles on it, the bullet is just over four years old. The dealer just put RP Synchromax in my Z06.

If it doesn't work out well, I'll let you know.

Yeah, thanks for the feedback. Last night I did extensive research on Royal Purple Synchromax on the web. The company seems to be very open about their products that might cause warranty problems and their Synchromax was not mentioned as being a problem for manual transmission warranty issues. So from what I am able to find we are good to go with this product in our Corvette's. I ordered 4 qts. this morning from the link at the beginning of this thread, http://www.rpmoil.com/shop/welcome.html , and look forward to the improvements in shifting Royal Purple is supposed to give. Thanks again for your comments.

I just changed out my trans fluid jsut about a hour ago. I have to say it shifts a 100% better you cant go wrong with Synchromax its good stuff. I highly recommend it.

There is suspicion that it could do damage. I say stay with a sure bet.

my #1 gripe about royal purple is that they use a PAO base without a good seal modifier. that means years later you're a LOT more likely to develop leaks than with...say...amsoil that also uses a PAO base but has a great additive pack.

my personal choice is redline which is an ester base. incredible cold flow, requires nil for viscosity modifiers and has a softening/swelling effect on seals just due to the nature of being a group 5 ester. that's golden for an older car. also has the best shear stability of any of the major oils to the best of my knowledge

redline d4 atf does meet gm spec and works wonderful in late c5s

the insanely good cold flow numbers are obvious when you go to drive on a 40deg day. shifting is good from the start and is perfect within a few minutes. with the OE oil shifting was a bit clunky when cold

Yep you can say that, lol I sold the C5 Z06 back in 2010. I now have a C6 Z06. But I did like the Royal Purple in the C5 Manual Transmission never had any problems.
