Depends on what you currently have. If you have a stick you already have 3.42's. If you have an auto, you either have 2.73 or 3.15's. If you have the former the switch would give you a huge kick in the pants. 3.15's to 3.42's isn't a significant amount.

Find out what you currently have... if 2.73's then 3.42's would be hard to beat by any other mod short of a SC.

Cost to acquire said gears aren't bad, but isn't the swap itself labor intensive?

Yeah, that was what I was referring to. Seen then for a few hundred. But pretty sure having to pay for labor will run you quite a bit more. Not sure this is a diy job for less experienced folks.

Does the speedometer have to be recalibrated when you change the rearend gears
