Can't seem to get a good answer on this and i have no active codes.
When i start the car is always says it is betwen 56-68 degrees outside about 99% of the time. It will stay in that range no matter how far i drive as long as i keep moving. It rarely will go up and read the right temp.
In Atlanta you can imagine its hot A LOT so i keep it set at 60 and the A/C will bloc ice cold and hard.
Here is the man problem. When i am stopped with the car running for any length of time the exterior temp displayed will start to drop no matter what the temp is outside. Once it start dropping it keeps going down into the 30's where the A/C turns off. I read that when the car thinks it is below 40 the A/C is not operable and this is definitely true.
What is happening here?? Why when i sit still does it drop like that and why cant i get a real reading. I was shocked monday when it said it was 103 degrees out cause the heat index was 103 it is the only time all year it has worked right. Then last night it was in the 80's it said it was 59 out then i hit a long light it dropped the 33 and i had to sweat the rest of the drive.
I also should note that when it drops if i get on a highway about 5 minutes later it will start rising and once over 40 i have A/C again although it never goes to the true temp
Outside Temp Sensor...aka Ambient Air Temp Sensor. Replace it. I had the same problem on my Z (didn't drop that far down). Part numbers:
10248414 SENSOR
12102747 CONNECTOR
I replaced both the harness plug and sensor.
That must be it. When i jumped a curb in it a year ago is around the time it started acting up after they repaired the fascia right in that spot. How do i find these sensors exactly??
If that is the problem, then it's easy and cheap to replace. You can reach it either from the top by the passenger headlight or from underneath right next to the radiator opening in the front fascia near the black frame bar the protects the front fascia. Clean the connector really well when you change the sensor. Often, the connector is part of the problem due to corrosion.
Great, thanks i will bet this is the issue. I'll update after the weekend when i fix it. Thats the same area fixed when i had a run in with a curb which come to think of it is when this issue started.

Sounds like to me that the outside temp sensor is wacky. It is a relatively cheap part, so you may want to replace it and see if the problem disappears.
