? On Leaks At Rear Of Car
Like the title says: are there any common places for leaks on the rear of the C5? I just bought a 2003 vert and noticed some small spots on the driveway last night; it looks like it's only dripping a few drops a night. I slid under it and it looks like it could be either the diff or, very possibly, the hard brake line on the driver's side where it is attached to the rear cradle.
The fluid is on the bottom of the rear cradle. It looks like and smells like brake fluid to me but I wondered if there are any common areas of concern. It's still under warranty and only has 2200 miles on it so fixing it shouldn't be an issue.

I have a 2004 vert and noticed a couple of dime sized spots @ 2500 mi. I put cardboard under the car to help track the spots. Thet were located slightly to the left at the rear. When they became quarter sized @ 2800 mi I brought it in and they replaced the axle seal.

I have a 2000 coupe with 35000 miles on it now, mine has leaked out of the rear diff since 22000 miles (may have leaked before that is when I bought it) I had it fixed to the tune of $900 (under warranty at the time) and after another 2400 miles and 4 months in storage it leaks again, the chevy store that I had it fixed at the second time claims that it is from sitting and the gaskets shrink until they heat up again and there is really no fix for the problem, it only leaks a little bit four or five drips a month, I have given up on this and accepted that my garage floor needs to be covered with cardboard, I have been told that the automatics do not have this problem........if your friends ask you why your corvette is leaking fluids just tell them it doesn't leak, it marks its territory!!

My 2000 has leaked three times from the differential seals and once from the gasket where the tranny meets the differential.

well now that my '02 6mn has 10K miles, I noticed a few dime size spots under the rear. I guess it's my turn to take it in. Gezzz you would think GM would have done a better job on the design.

Had my leak around 9800 miles. It was tansmission fluid. What dealer did was put a dye and re-tighten the bolts on the pan. Haven't seen a blue or green dye since.

Had the diff seal leak fixed at 5000 miles.
Its leaking again (20000 miles) so I guess another trip to the dealer is on the cards

My 03 mn6 at 24k has had 4 differential seals replaced. Obviouly all under factory warrenty. The fourth one seems to be holding so far. Mine ia a driver, not a garage queen, so drying shrinking gaskets is not an answer I will take from the dealer. Mine usually starts after a long road trip. It seems that the airation of the differential fluid increases the pressure and the valve on the top of the diff. does not release enough pressure. That along with GM cheap designed gaskets.
