That little sucker is hard to reach, I doubt you can get it from below. You need to remove the panel at the rear of your hatch, which is no big deal - take the covers off the 2 side storage compartments, then loosen the corner panels that will free up the panel in the middle enough to come out. You still need to do some reaching but you can get it out at least.
There are 2 small thumbscrews attached to the top of the light, one at each end. As I recall the screws don't have to come all the way out, just loosen them and the light can slide out ( I *think*). If the lights bad I think you need to replace the whole thing, it's got an array of small red bulbs and I think I remember the bulb housing being permanently attached (glued) to the lense/cover. 1] Remove one of the inner tail lamps. Access the high-mounted stop lamp through the tail lamp opening.
2] Disconnect the electrical connector from the stop lamp.
3] Remove the screws retaining the stop lamp to the rear fascia.
4] Remove the stop lamp from the vehicle through the tail lamp opening.
Installation Procedure
1] Install the high-mounted stop lamp into position inside the rear fascia.
2] Loosely install the stop lamp mounting screws.
3] Align the stop lamp to the rear fascia, then press and hold the lamp to the fascia for flushness. Tighten the high-mounted stop lamp retaining screws to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
4] Connect the electrical connector to the stop lamp.
