Bought one of these Haltech systems a while back during a forum group buy....no longer have the instructions. What's the best way to clean the filter? Can I use my K&N stuff?
Spray with Simple Green, let sit. Hose it out from the inside.
Almost complete, but you also need to then let it dry before oiling with K&N filter oil. So:
1. Spray the outside with Simple Green.
2. Hose (gently) from the inside-out.
3. Allow to dry thoroughly (a day or more)
4. Lightly spray K&N filter oil on the outside (oil is reddish color to distinquish amount of coverage)
5. Allow to sit on paper towels or newspapers to allow any excess oil to drain. (Hopefully, you won't have to do this, but it's better to be safe than allow your MAF wires to be coated with oil, resulting in poor engine performance.
Good advice here from Dave68, and, from all the other very thoughtful CF members who have responded above to this specific post. And, we just cannot say enough about lighly re-oiling, and, absolutely letting those re-oiled filters to dry thoroughly and completely.

How often should it be cleaned? I've had my TRAP for probably 21K miles or so, and it's pretty dusty here in West Texas. I had heard 50K before, but I'm curious if anyone knows the recommended number.
