I own 2004 "Z" and the from the onset the front brake dust is excessive. But over the last 2,000 miles or so, the front right started to squell and the dust has gotten alot worse. Took the car to the dealer today for another problem and while there asked about the brakes. He stated there is nothing GM can do....its normal and there's no bullitins on this issue. My question is, has anyone else had this problem and if so what was the out come. This doesn't sound normal, the squelling is very annoying and embarrassing.

Are you the first owner of the car?
Because it seems like someone put differant brake pads on the car.
I have a friend that runs his Z06 at the track with the stock pads and the brake dust is very minimal. Otherwise try the AcDelco ceramic pad "upgrade" for C5's Z06's should be ceramic anyway but those may have been swapped out. Not to mention I haven't heard of ceramic pads being noisy.
That's funny-You may want to check my earlier post-Attn; Brake Squealers... I just got flamed for saying the same thing. Apparently there are some GM enthusiasts that think this is "normal" for a "race car" like the Z06 and that we should accept it. I would advise that you complain as well--I heard that Kelley Chevrolet in Hollywood Fla put on ceramics for someone 'cuz they knew there was no real "fix"if you are upset enough. Yeah, I know, apparently GM doesn't owe us a "fix" according to some on this forum. Anyways, I'm just not a big fan of the ceramics-heard many pros and cons and was trying to see if I could get some '01 pads put on. Of course, you may be accused of whining... There was some good info that was offered up tho.
It is normal for the stock pads on the Z06, if you want to give up some breaking performance for low dust and no noise then get some ceramic pads, and you're done.
