Damn what is the altitude of the track? In Hawai, very hot and humid, car probably way down on HP and traction

Hard to tell and who knows how it will take the stock exhaust manifolds or maybe it will like it... IMO some long tubes will make a big differance too and have the effect of all the mods and help them all out some and get the old 1 + 1 = 3 effect.

Can't go wrong with a HC untill you get bit by the cam bug and you have to get a bigger one! I am guilty of that! Good luck brother!
Dave
PS I went 12.3 with a vararam and bfg draggs and on street tires... I think my best was 12.5 but I am in a slow 01 and I am not a good driver :o

And the heads and apparently the stronger pistons too. thanks for the correction on the block though.

Yes my track is slowww.....

It's usualy around 80 degrees but always extremely humid since the island is consideder a tropical rain forest..

RECORDS THAT I KNOW FROM GOING 2-3 TIMES PER MONTH FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS....BONE STOCK RECORDS

-02 Z06 12.7 @ 111

-02 Viper GTS 12.6 @112

-03 STI 13.6 @ 101

-03 EVO 13.8 @ 99

-03 Cobra 13.2 @ 108 ( I actualy saw this one)

-04 SRT-4 14.6 @ 96

All these numbers were gathered from just walking up to the groups and asking what the record was....

So the 13.1-13.3 average I have right now is enough to smoke everyone besides the Z06 and Viper...My modded vrs there stock.

Im gonna call the shop in 2 hours to see if my parts came in on the UPS and the surgery cam commence!!!!!

HUD available on Z06 (not avail '01 model year)
(i think this data is inaccurate)

HUD was an option in 01' It was standard on z06 starting 02.

Im patiently waiting for the phone call now.....Ive been over reading at LS1 tech all day on cam only dyno results....Whatever I dyno Im sure that a set of LG headers will give me another 20-30 rwhp and get me close to the magic 400 rwhp #...

Tonight Im gonna go and do some 0-60 mph's with the Gtech....So far my best have been 4.43's with the LS6 heads/cam vararam and BFG DR's.....Cant wait to see what Ill get with the 224/224...

0-60's will have to satisfy me till the actual track this weekend.

I just picked up the car and so farr I cant say Im happy.....

The car still has not been dyno tuned and wont be tuned till Thursday morning.....

Also they want 87$ for taxes....Theve never charged me any taxes before....

But still when you consided Im getting the cam/springs/pushrods install and dyno tune for $1,487 bucks after taxes.....GUESS I CANT COMPLAIN..

The fact that it's not tuned and I have no numbers to post makes me upset.....Owell Ill get over that one on Thursday...

The car is idling at 800 rpms and sounds louder than the LS6 cam and has a nice lope.....

Dosent sound stock or like a race car...I nice in between....Of course all my exhaust is 100% stock...

On the Freeway I couldnt really get on it but at low RPMs she felt EXACTLY like the LS6 (major let down) I had a brief 70-80 mph run and there did feel like there was more umph in it but it was so short lived it was almost impossible to tell for shore.

My best ever with the Gtech bone stock at my local spot was ....

0-60 in 5.0 1/4 mile in 13.2 @ 107

My best ever with the Gtech and my stock LS6 was........

0-60 in 4.6 1/4 mile in 12.8 @ 111

My best ever with my Gtech and the stock LS6 and vararam was....

0-60 in 4.5 1/4 mile in 12.78 @ 112

My best ever Gtech with LS6 Vararam and BFG Dr's was.....

0-60 in 4.43 ( never did the full 1/4 mile with it)

SO NOW IM GONNA GO SEE WHAT THE UNTUNED TR 224/224 CAN DO..

PS....I know no one cares about Gtech numbers....Mine is the vector unit from circuit city and is amazingly accurate up to the 1/8 mile on et and mph......The 1/4 et is usualy within a tenth but the mph is usualy 2-4 mph off....

I use it every time I go to the track...

WELL THIS IS THE BEST I CAN DO TILL I GET THE DYNO NUMBERS OF THE TUNED 224 ON THURSDAY AND THE TRACK RESULTS ON FRIDAY.

The HUD on 01 Z06 was a late year option, and not avaiable on early cars. Mine is a May 27th production, and no HUD was avaiable. No worries :o

Well.....Went out and did some Gtech runs with the UNTUNED TR 224/224 563 112......

Best ever with the stock LS6 head/cam, vararam and BFG dr's and 78 seperate Gtech 1/4 mile runs at the same exact location......

0-60 mph in 4.43 seconds

1/4 mile in 12.78 @ 112 mph

New best with stock LS6 heads, UNTUNED TR 224/224, vararam and BFG dr's out of 6 1/4 mile runs at the same location as above....

0-60 mph in 4.32 seconds

1/4 mile in 12.65 @ 113.5 mph

Ive got mixed feelings about it...

IN THE OBVIOUS WAY......ONLY 1 TENTH AND 1 MPH REALLY SUCKS....

But on the other hand it's still untuned.....And Im comparing my best of 6 runs to my best of 78 runs....

Tonight I averaged 12.75 at 112 mph hot lapping

With the LS6 heads and cam Vararam and BFG dr's I averaged 13.0 at 110 mph

The 12.7 was a one time thing...I was usualy VERY happy on any night when I managed a 12.9.

So if I look at it like that I gained about 2 tenths and two mph untuned..

Im gonna go out again in 30 minutes and see if I can do better with the kooler midnight air and a kool engine...

The idle isnt as smooth as I thought it was.It still hasnt died on me yet but can have a rough start and some HEAVY loping. The car is totaly different now. On all of my launches I could simply take off and floor it and not once did I get tire spin.....With the LS6 at this same location with the same tires I had to baby it or Id do nonthing but spin....I like the way it launches now MUCH better.

Well the pcm hasnt even had time to learn whats going on and the cam hasnt even been tuned yet...But Im still gonna go have a little more fun tonight.....

Ill post up on Thursday with the tuned dyno results and then on Friday with actual track results...

I just went out again and ran 3 12.7's at 112 mph with the Gtech....

But Im actually some what happy now...I just noticed that my car is changing gears at 6000 rpms instead of the 6300 rpms I had it changing at with the stock LS6..

So Im actualy surprised that my 0-60 has improved a tenth....Right now Im changing from first to second around 56 mph...

When my car changed from first to second at 6300 rpms Id be around 62 mph... So getting to 60 before needing a shift...

So now untuned and requiring a shift before 60 mph Im still a tenth ahead.....Thats a good sighn for me...

So it seems like all they did was get the car to idle and have EVERYTHING else set up like a stock 2004 LS1 automatic with 2.73...

I cant wait to see how the car runs when the cpu is set up to be a mildly cammed LS6 with ram air....

THERE IS HOPE.............

Must get it tuned to ensure your closed loop and open loop AFR, timing fuel ect is all cool at idle hot and cold. It's all part of the process, so take vids and pics and enjoy the gians from your before numbers.

Yeah sounds like you are going to get some nice gains after a tune, which is definitely needed at this point! The shift points alone will make a pretty big difference IMO. Good luck and be sure to check back and let us know how you make out after tuning. When are you getting it tuned by the way?

Like someone said--get some 3.42 gears- that will help a lot, and a high stall if you got the bucks...
Along with the cam.

Its getting tuned tomorrow (Thursday) morning......

Id guess right now I have to be 20 rwhp above my 345 rwhp....

Last night I was a solid 2 tenths quicker than ever before....

When I converted from the LS1 to the LS6 and my dyno went from 299 rwhp to 338 rwhp (an increase of 39 rwhp....or approx. 46 crank Hp) I gained a solid 4 tenths and 4 mph in the 1/4 mile.

AHHHH...Im not even gonna think about it any more.....Ill no the real results tomorrow morning...

370 rwhp would be GREAT

Well, good luck. BTW, what year is your car, and is this through 10% stock exhaust, including stock manifolds?

I have the TR224/112 in my 00 Fbody with stock LS1 heads just bolt-ons and a 6-speed. The car is right at 400rwhp and I couldn't ask any more from the cam.
Since you have the 112Lsa, you definately need tuning to get the most out of your AT car. Get a nice torque converter and you'll be VERY pleased.
