Trunk Lid Liner
I was in a local Corvette shop a few weeks ago and they had an Anniversary convertible with a shale colored trunk lid liner with the C5 logo on it. I've looked on the net and can only find black liners. Anyone know of a source for shale colored trunk lid liners?
Rich doesn't list the trunk lid liner for the C5, but if anyone could make one like you want - I would think they could.
Correct, CAR Motorsports has been making Corvette C5 Custom Embroidered Trunk Lid Covers for over two years. We have been producing them in both Black and Gray. Certainly we could do them in a Shale or many other Colors. Please understand that our Trunk Lid Covers are built using the same high quality Custom Materials as our Underhood Insualtors. We utilize a weather, liquid proof board material and German Madeira Thread. There have been other companes that offer trunk lid covers but not with this kind of Customization and Quality. Our Criteria for all of our accessories is simple....it must be equal to or better than the quality of the vehicle it is going on. With that in mind, think of the accessories that meet or exceed the quality of a $55,000 Corvette C5. Clearly not the Taiwan Embroidered Floor Mats and Trunk lid Covers. We offer a complete line of "seemlessly integrated" products for the C5. Call and we will be happy to assist you with a Custom Product befitting your Corvette.
Do some searches on the forum. Many members have had problems keeping the trunk liners stuck to the underside of the trunk lid. Various approaches have been taken to remedy the problem. If you think you just stick it in place and it stays there forever, you may be in for a suprise. I was going to buy one and backed off after reading all the stuff people went thru to keep the damn thing in place. IMHO, it's not worth the effort.
PS: Not slamming any vendors...Seems to be a widespread problem.

I'm actually fighting this very problem. It's a great addition, but sure would like to know how to keep it in place.
i have been working with a fiberglass person around here local about making a MY painted fiberglass lid liner with either the crossed flags airbrushed on it, ot maybe corvette spelled out like on the rear facia of the car indented like the rear also.

You are absolutely correct. Keeping the Trunk Lid cover in place has been a problem for OTHER Vendors. Not for CAR Motorsports, we provide a combination of non marring adhesive products that keep the TLC in place yet allow you to remove the TLC at will. We offer both the one piece and the three piece embroidered. Complete custom embroidery is available. Ours is made far differently from the vendors you are referring to. Many members were able to view our two company C5 Convertibles with both the one piece and three piece TLCs installed at the Corvettes at Carlisle show. Best of all, the TLC is seamlessly integrated with the Custom Embroidered Underhood Insulator (UHI).

Rich,
I would like to see some photos of both the one and three piece TLC's. I looked on your website, but did not find TLC's for Corvette shown. Thinking about something in Light Oak. Do you also do custom embroidery if we want something special on them?

Here is a pick of the one i have. Went with Gold circle, thought it would look good on the green. Got the Corsas on-- they were the pro tips but got a good deal so they look good....like your sharks though..[IMG][/IMG]

Rich, sound fantastic. I'm a prospect. How can we see examples with a Z06 logo and get an idea of prices. I am so tired of continually reattaching the one I have
Thanks

Thanks all for the help. You are absolutely right about putting quality first. Rich, I will be contacting you in the next couple of days for price and availability info on a shale trunk lid cover.

I don't have a photo of our, but we have the red circle because it was free! When we bought this Corvette two friends went along as moral support in their 2000 TR FRC. While we were doing our paperwork they went for a test drive in a new `05 convertible - big mistake! So, after doing all their paperwork, we stripped the FRC of all the C5 goodies we could get off! Just wish we could have swapped their chrome wheels & brand new tires - would have saved me a ton of money last weekend!!
Even though we already have a trunk lid cover, we are having the same problem with it coming loose from the velcro. I added two long strips of velcro on the V-shaped raised supports which helps hold it better, but the ends come loose and sag. I think a three piece set in Lt. Oak would look great.

Was the trunk lid cover on yours made by Car Motorsports? Have you had any trouble with it coming loose? It looks great!
Got this one at Ecklers as they had the best price I could find for what i wanted. I'm sure it will sag when it gets hot again so planning on doing a little work on it this winter....Everything i have had with Sticky Velcro comes loose when it gets hot....Some things i have coated with contact cement.....works pretty good in most cases....key is to let it dry till ya finger sticks to it. It also remains plyable so you can get it off ok.. also you can find some commercial rated sticky velcro that might work.
Thinking about some styrafoam pieces on the ends to make it have a more solid backing.....and then the contact cement........what it came with is not much good .
I have a similar on from MidAmerica. I like the cover but it just will not stay stuck I emailed Rich at CAR Motorsports this morning but have yet to hear back Probably just busy. I hate the look of the unfinished trunk lid so I hope he has the answer. If someone knows how to make the Eckler's or MidAmerica units stay attached that would be great too.

I had the problem of the liner falling off and tried everything. Finally got industrial strength velcro at WalMart in the Sewing section. I like this stuff so much I bought some online. I've not seen the industrial stuff at Home D or similiar places but others have said they found it there. It works when going over RR tracks, potholes etc. Also because the inside of the trunk lid is black I went with the 50th emblem on black. Thought it would look better on a black background but each to his own. Got mine from WCC and the velcro on it is better than one I had several yeas ago (that one kept falling off) but I still have my ind. strength velcro if needed.

Never saw the email today, try calling first thing Friday morning. Sounds like everyone is happy with there trunk lid cover if it stays in place. It really isn't a trunk lid cover if it isn't covering the trunk lid. To us, staying in place is only the first thing we required when designing our trunk lid cover (we own two convertible C5s). CAR Motorsports' TLC is constructed from far different materials than the TLCs all of you have mentioned. We do use materials that are in the overkill category, but than would be our MO. Our C5 TLC board material is the same as is used for UHI applications on dozens of car models from the 1954-1996. Made to withstand high heat and impervious to liquid, a rigid material that is ready to stand the test of time. We also wrap the board with our UHI material either in black or gray. Again very thick material and heat resistant. We use ultra high temperature performance glue for not problems down the road. Finally the embroidery, simply the best available using state of the art machines and employing German Madeira Thread, the Rolex of Threads, over 300 Colors to meet your customizing needs. Best of all, this product seemless integrates with our entire line of custom embroidered products; floormats, cargo/trunk mats, dash covers, Steering Wheel Covers, Underhood Insulators, seat belt shoulder cushions, fender mats, Car Covers, etc. We allow you to steer clear of embroidered products that simply do not match. It is our pleasure to have the opportunity to serve your customizing needs.
Rich, thanks for the response. I'm riding down to Daytona (Biketoberfest) early Friday so will not be able to call. Could you post or email me a picture of your Z06 logo Trunk Lid Liner and a price? Otherwise I'll call you on Monday. Thanks
