No offence meant and with all due respect - but you obviously do not drive your car like a sports car. Gear selection is critical on a road race course or in the twisties. If I wanted to go get groceries in "Drive", I would have bought a Toyota.
Try shifting - it might surprise you how much more fun a A4 can be
you a4 guys make me laugh... shiftin 2nd 1st... damn if you wanted to do all that, get a mn6!

Because I am close to 6'6" and there is the lack of legroom for me to use the clutch. Plus my vette is a daily driver and I drive in the city quit a bit. So now

And there are many of us that wouldn't have it any other way than an A4. So lets not highjack this thread to discuss this AGAIN. You can always start your own thread on the subjet.

That about sums it up.
Most of the time I drive in "D", but there are times that "D" just doesn't get it... road courses... twisties... Then I'll shift as needed.

I hate to say it, I have an A4 because the missus don't know how to drive a stick. If it was just me, I'd go with the 6 speed. And yes, I just leave it at D. If I wanted to shift, I'd buy a stick. No offense to other member's responses. Just my thoughts.

no offense but grond whyd you get a a4?
To show people like you a clean set of taillights, of course.
I have spanked many a MN6/MN12 driver that assumed (just like you) that your car was way faster than mine - or even better yet - naturally assumed that you were a much better driver than I am.

Back to the original post... Its easier on the transmission if you drive around the city without overdrive. Any thing over 50-55 which is usually highway I use 4th overdrive
I used to drive all the time in 3rd, now that I have 3.73 gears, I get sinular performance out of "D". Also as part of the gears and a small TC I needed LS1Edit to get it all to work nice.
As part of the reprogramming. I made some nice changes to the downshift points - so with not a whole lot of peddal pressure I can get it to down shift with just a small foot adjustment.

Well said. Never underestimate the power of the A4 .
In 3rd with the pedal to the floor from a stop I will be @ rev limiting at about 133mph with 3.42 gears. I normaly do not shift aound in mine but in slow driving areas often I will place it in 2nd and cruise like that.(but not to take off from a stop in 2nd as I read here it is not good for the tranny).

i was in 3rd gear in my A4 for the first time and floored it at 40mph...all i can say is wow, my car kicked like it never did in OD. i felt like it had another 50hp. A4s can be lots of fun also
