Now that's something i would NEVER do!! (i'm not talking bout driving in the snow....i mean driving my Z on the L.I.E.
Sometimes you just have to, but definitely something to avoid if at all possible. There's always plenty of trucks on the L.I.E. spewing out garbage and debris behind them, so it becomes a real-life video game ... like dodging bullets ...
However, taking the Southern State parkway can be quite a thrilling ride when not much traffic (my highway of choice around here whenever possible).
Drove the Z06 to work today. Could not walk by her another day in the garage and not drive her. The rain yesterday washed most of the road sand to the sides & I take mostly 2 lane roads. Felt so good (and loud) at 6:45 am this morning.

the way you wrote that I can almost HEAR your vette starting up!
Is anyone else here in the northeast, tempted to take their Z out for a spin, after all the recent rain has washed the salt off the roads? Or should I just calm down and wait for April?
I thought I should reply after what happened to me the other day, I live in northeastern Canada (Nova Scotia) .. I had my 03 z06 out the other day ( nice day, salt on the roads, but dry. I won't drive in the wet salt but will in the dry and wash it well come spring)
I was driving through a mall parking lot and I could'nt believe my eyes, I spotted a parked ferrari, not just a ferrari but the 360 challenge stradale, The racing version of the 360's
There were 5 people looking at his car , taking pictures etc (first ferrari I've seen in my lifetime) The owner came out and we started conversing with him (nice guy) , I said " Why would you have this car out in the salt" He got kinda defensive and said " well it's a nice day" , he then pointed to my car parked close to his and said who's driving that, when I told him it was me, he laughed and said well what the hell are you talking to me about driving today.
My point is I think you should drive your car whenever you can, and enjoy

YEA...SSPW is a nice hwy...very well maintained too i.e. potholes....unlike the Cross Bronx Expwy...where i almost broke an axle once....was also voted one of the worst roads in the country by truckers in Overdrive Magazine....not to mention the BQE.
The idiots driving on the L.I.E. scare me more than the roads...& i'm from the lovely Garden State....3rd worst drivers in the country...after Boston & NYC
Just drive it carefully on heavily sanded roads(for your paints sake) then hammer down! I've been driving the hell out of mine!
Enjoy it, that's what it is made for.
I took the road insurance off mine also. To top it off it's about 18 miles away in a buddy's warehouse sleeping with a Mil Yel 01 Z and a couple of mercedes and bmw's. It least it's in good company!! Maybe I'll get some babies! Hope its the 2 vettes though, I dont want to deal with any little bastard half breed mercedes vettes!!
I saw a yellow vert the other day when I was going down to naugatuck to look at a tool box for sale. It was a Jersey vette.
Well I did get to take it out last Sat afternoon for a couple hours,oh was that nice. got home just as it was starting to spit snow and put her back in the garage.Got a couple inches Sat. evening so the roads are all sh***ed up again, and we are supposed to get slammed tomorrow with a foot or more of the white crap. I can't stand living around here anymore. A few more years and I'll be wintering with whatever toy I might have at the time down south. Come on springtime

i'm 3 hours south of you.had mine out since christmas.right now mother nature is peeing on mine[i hate the north myself!].we are thinking on the same wave length.i'm thinking arizona!
i'm also going to turn the 4 groundhogs who live in my backyard into hats as soon as they stick their heads out of the ground!!
Not me I look out in my neighborhood, and it looks like a gravel back country road...stone & cinders galore.
The Township usually has it cleaned-up by April/May...it's gonna be a long winter.
its just a car, you should enjoy it whenever you feel like driving it.
i agree but to take it out on a rainy or salty day and have your hard work ruined for a 5 min drive just to spend hrs cleaning again is not my idea of fun. I know its just a car, but i hate to see her dirty. and no one wantes to send their babies out to the world dirty. what would other think....haha
I have over 500hp and had mine out anyway. The Nittos don't like the cold. I was accelerating in third the other day on the highway and broke loose in third. Be careful, keep traction control and active handling anyway unless you are daring
