If this has not been posted yet, which I'm sure it has. Here is a web site that has some Cam Idle Sound Clips. I have found this extremely useful since I am tying to find the sound of a Comp Cam 220- 224 on a 114 + 1, which continues to elude me.
A & A told me it was a good cam that made good numbers with stock heads and did not have the large lobe sound. However, I.. just might put on some AFR Mongoose Heads anyway! I just want around 380 RWHP so I think his estimate was I be around 385 or slightly over with those two together. That is good enough for me at this point.
Thats is good enough for me. What do you think?

i think its a bad choice. why? because your just wasting money.
why would you spend money on heads and a "small" cam, when you can get the same results from spending less money on just a bigger cam??
i would def. rethink that. im running comp cams 224/228, and im happy, but wish i went bigger. its all in the tune, you can go with a much bigger cam and still have complete driveability.
im at 385rwhp with CAM only. stock untouched heads. basically with the setup your thinking about you will spend almost $2500 more to be around the same hp!
plus think about the future. if you do the small cam with heads now, your upgrade later will be doing another cam swap for something bigger. just do the bigger cam now, then later on go for a set of heads putting you well over 400rhwp.
my idle is fine. the car is loud due to having long tube headers, NO cats, and B&B Bullets.
if you are not looking for something with a choppy idle, make sure you find a cam with a 114 LSA. you can go with even a big cam like g5x4 on a 114.
if you want the choppy lope sound, look for a cam on a 112 LSA. id talk to A&A again about maybe choosing a bigger cam to go with your stock heads. there are plenty of good choices. my personal choice would be LG's cam g5x3!

For specific cams, go to youtube and in the youtube search bar, type in 220/224 cam and you'll find a bunch of them. Most are 112 but some are 114s. I'm in agreement here, many other better choices IMHO. Just gotta decide what you want.

I've got a Comp 224/228 114 and I love it. Pulls strong right into the 6800rpm cutoff if you don't watch out. Using PAC918 springs.
Has a nice burble at idle that definitely isn't stock.
Over the years on all the cars I've probably had 6 cams biggest was a Lunati 236/236 112.
This isn't much but it's a quick clip of my 224/228 cam.
On a c5z with headers and Borla Stinger catback low rpm in 4th gear.
