Default Detailers. Best method to remove wheel weight left-over residue?

On my new wheels I have a good amount of left over wheel weight residue. There's enough of an amount that I can't glide clay over it at all. What do you all use to remove this safely and not damage the clear on my Y2K polished thinspokes?

I use good old elbow grease with car wash liquid. If you pose the same question in the Car Care forum, I'm sure you find get plenty of helpful advice.

I've been working for months trying to get the old 'weight glue' off. I tried everything suggested on the forum. No luck! I tried car wash, WD40, Goo-be-gone, etc.

If the WD-40 won't soften the adhesive, use Acetone. Just don't get any on the painted surfaces!

Try a fine grade of steel wool and metal polish.

I just happened to re-read your original post. The "clear" on the wheels, is that as in "clearcoated"? If so, DON'T use acetone!!

Have you tried warming it with a heat gun on "low" and then rolling into a small wad with your fingers?

3M wax and adhesive remover.
IF the adhesive has been there for a long time, it will be rock hard and will take a long time to soften up and remove.

I used "Goof Off" (similar to Goo Gone) successfully on my wheels.

Let me tell you that a heat gun works wonders. And, do not use anything abrasive!

I would try a clay bar. Maybe that would work. A heat gun sounds like a good idea too. Whatever you do, do not use anything abrasive.
