Cops came to my house today
Not 30 minutes after getting my car running from a 5 month rebuild, I get cops coming to my house. So I get the last of the things buttoned up and start the vette up from its long sleep. After it's fully warmed up I give it a few 4 grand revs to make sure everything is sound and working. I take it out around the block to make sure all is good, stayed under 20mph no fast driving. Get home park it in the driveway and start to clean the garage, it was a mess. I see this cop car pull up in the alley and I knew right then what they wanted. He gets out and says that someone in the neighborhood complained about me revving my car. You could tell he really was more interested in the car than me making some noise. Asks for my ID and says something on radio and leaves. This was at like 4:30pm, not late at night, not driving fast down the streets. In the 15 min I was running it in the garage I revved it maybe 3 times. Why would they call the cops on me. Just wanted to tell you about my run in with the law, and wasn't even on the road.

I get that quite often with the Harley but never the Vette. I always seem to get the bike back in the garage and the door down and then they come rolling around the corner.

id say do it again, try and figure our which neighbor it is, its only noise ordinance after i think 9pm, they cant do anything bt show up at your house and tell you to stop, the nieghbor has to take you to court to do something about it, and most likely that wont work neither, funny though i have a similar problem here in my neighborhood but with a barking dog

neighbors can make your life good; they can also make your life hell. 'tis a tough thing particularly as developers squeeze more of us into more intimate living arrangements.....bub

Wow neighbors like that suck. I have six police officers on my block. I set the line-lock and do smoky burnouts and they come out to watch.

You would think they have to tell you where the complaint is coming from , as I'm sure they have that info . Then I would drive by again revving the engine while coasting down the hill

Back in the mid-80s, I had an oval track car. As most know, that can be expensive, therefore a friend and I partnered on the car. Again, as most know, partnerships don't always work out, so my friend wound up unhappy, bailed out, and took his engine with him. (Jerk!)
Anyway, instead of doing the smart thing and just cutting my losses and selling the car and remaining stuff, I decide to soldier on by myself. However, since funding is tight, I have to scavenge stuff at swap meets and so forth, so some of my "buys" aren't all that spectacular.
I got a dry sump oil pump cheap, however it turned out to have a couple of warped stages. It took a few tries to get it back together correctly, and naturally testing it involves starting the car. You only have to fire it up for a few seconds to determine if it's OK, and since the car is LOUD, but I'm trying to be a decent guy, I keep the running time short, and nowhere near late at night...more like 4-4:30 PM, right after work.
Naturally, I have one neighbor who's a pain, and calls the police every time I started the car. However, the LEOs are cool, and finally tell the neighbor to quit bothering me, AS WELL AS THEM!

I could see them calling the police if it was at some unreasonable hour or you constantly did it, but sounds like you have a real azzwipe for a neighbor.
