Differences between F45 and F55 suspension
I've read a description about how the F55 magnetic suspension works, but I've not been able to determine how the F45 suspension does its thing. Can anyone explain the technical operation of the F45?

I have the F-45 suspension. It has three settings instead of the two that the F-55 has. As far as I know it has three different orifices that are selected from the console control. Tour, sport and performance. I like having the three and the fact that it's not that hard cost wise to replace. I've already got a spare set of shocks standing by if these fail.

Thanks. But what I want to know is what happens in the shocks or to the shocks as the switch is engaged. I understand that the F55 magnetic ride energizes metallic ***** suspended in the shock absorber oil to increase viscosity (basically), and I'm wondering what the mechanism for the actual changes in the F45 system is... Anyone?

The three different orifices in the shocks restrict the flow of oil. The smaller the orifice the tighter the shock get. Instead of thickening the oil or magnetic material that is in the magnetic ride system. That's all I have anyone else.

I've been wondering the same thing. I have an 01 with the F45, and I quite honestly cannot tell any difference, no matter which setting I select. If I had bought this car new, and paid $1695 for this, I would be a very unhappy camper.........

Pick out a well known stretch of road near by, something that has some curves and some humps and valleys in it. Drive it in all three modes. You should be able to feel the difference, if not, there is something not right. Mark

I can't feel much difference (very subtle), but my CD player sure can. Skips in sport and skips like crazy in performance.
Thanks for the link to that long, and very interesting article!! That's the kind of stuff I wanted to know!

All I know is I get 10s @ 125+ in the 1/4 on the F45 bone stock suspension..........in any of the 3 settings I still get a 1.49 60'
