There's a hack for vBulletin that displays the thread start-date/time in the forum thread list...if you ask the admins, maybe they'll implement it (or not).

It would allow you to ignore zombie threads gracefully rather than whining about them.

To be fair, some of these old threads get resurrected because people respond after having (gasp!) searched on a topic.

Probably not this thread, of course, but I'll admit to having searched on a topic, and then caught myself almost responding till I saw that the original thread was started years ago. In that case, I'll start a new thread if the subject is important enough.
