Ok, so i have an '04 coupe and just got new rims/tires from a fellow member. I was getting the service tire monitor system error for a few days, but now all of a sudden i get readings from all 4 tires (instead of my usual XXX). Each tire is within a few psi of each other which makes sense because I obviously checked the pressure on them myself.
Is it possible they were in there, even though the previous owner told me he didn't have them. Or does the system pick up readings on its own and/or something that was stored in the memory?

I'm assuming you didn't use the existing sensors - or if you did, you didn't put them back in the same position in which they were orignally installed. In either case - you will probably have to go thru the relearn process. It's very simple to do - and the only tool that you'll need is a fairly strong magnet. Here is a tech tip to help it along....
I've heard of cases where they have seemed to re-learn on their own. Like blacksedan87 says above, If it was my car I wouldn't trust the accuracy without doing the relearn.
Evil Twin is the TPS system expert here, maybe he will chime in.
I guess i forgot to clarify. The member i got them from told me he didnt have the sensors installed when he got the packaged. I got the tires already mounted from him and just put them on the car.
