Well I think this damn headlight has a gremlin. The day I bought the car (2 months ago) I drive the hour home, pull in the garage and the drivers side stays up. I do alittle research to find the Rodney Dickerson gear. So I look in my door Jamb to find I have a early 2K build so I order the first gen style. Get the package and find it is wrong. That motor had been replaced and is 2nd gen. Well I speak with Rodney and he informed me only the instructions and some epoxy differ from the kits. No big deal I resolve the issue. Well I can count on one hand how many times I have had to turn on the headlights since. 2 days ago I get the 1 eye poper and use the manual **** to sit her down. Open/close and all is well. This morning I decide to bring her to work and get out. Guess what? The grimlin is back, however my method does not seem to work. WTH is going on. On a lighter note if this is the biggest issues I have to tend with I am fine with that. I can always order a set of projections. HAHAHAHA
Has anyone else had this problem? I have a 2000 FRC that just turned 9k miles and the same thing happened to me on saturday. I dont expect anything to be wore out. I heard that it might just need those brass gears.
Actually the one that is doing this has the brass gear in it. Unless some how the cover came loose I am not sure of the issue. When I get a chance I am going to tear into it.
I also have a 2000 and recplaced the gears in both motors. I had problems with the motor on the drivers side in that the epoxy would hold for a while then let loose. The motor on passenger side is easier to manage as it is captured by the bracket while the one on the drivers side is not. I ended up cleaning and using epoxy and then used wireties to make sure they stay intact.
I think I just need to start the process over and yes use some ties. I have adjusted the stop a few times and it does not help? Thanks guys for the info though.
Your tabs are probably shot. Extend your motor by using 3 washers on each bolt head. There's a service bulletin on this. you can also extend the tabs with tubing.
