What I can't understand is the guys who have "garage queens", the 2001 models with 1,500 miles on the odometer. We're not driving 1924 Bugattis. These cars are meant to be driven!

Btw my 04 coupe just clicked over 29,000.

In these cars you always want to take the long way home.

Same here.. I live near Glasgow, Scotland, UK.

It took me four hours and over 300miles to drive the 20 miles home when I bought my '87. I went north to Glencoe via Loch Lomond and Glen Etive (Skyfall) etc. Never missed a beat..

Been a while, need to do that again..

Michelle and I want to drive up Glen Etive and re-enact the iconic AM DB5 scene from Skyfall..

If it was me I would bike the 2-3 miles. Heck, I leave a bike at work to bike to lunch, gone as far as 7 miles. Then again, I do have a 20 mile commute with minimal traffic in which to enjoy my Corvette.

Same here, but the reason it takes me 30 minutes is due to avoiding all the potholes. I have to keep Active Handling on when driving down to my mailbox which is a straight shot!

Sounds to me like you got a keeper!!

When I got my Z, the power(supercharged) exceeded my expectations by a lot and they way it drives is intoxicating and thrilling. I did a sound deadening on it and now I make excuses to drive it and I always take the long way, preferably with curves! I know there are some crazy HP machines out there but to me, mine is an absolute beast, The motor revs so hard and fast, combined with the sound of the blower and the tone of the exhaust gives me goose bumps. And then to just look at the gorgeous lines and stance of the car is fantastic. I find myself standing in my garage just looking at it for a while. It's hopeless, LOL!

One thing about having the commute I have is the "fun factor". Skyline road runs along the ridge of the west hills, then Rocky Point is a 3 mile drop from the ridge to sea level. If I go highway, my commute is 40 minutes, the fun route is 1:20, but I am smiling the whole way.

Only about half the 30k/year I put on my car are freeway, the rest is backroads fun.

The highway into my home town is a 20 mile, semi twisty, two lane that winds through the hills past lakes and streams. Since I bought my vette, I often drive down to the end of hyw.108 and back on my way home. Of course, I used to do that on my 84 Honda V65 Magna too, so .... Always makes me smile

To make a long story short, I just bought my first corvette in Jan 2017, one month before my 50th bday. Now, I've always wanted a corvette since I was old enough to appreciate a fine car. Being in the military for 22 years enlisted, married with a son, it was not something I could justify. But now that I'm divorced, my son is on his own, and my brother passed away at 57 from brain cancer, I said the hell with it and pulled the trigger. You only get one run in this life, sometimes you just gotta live a little. I simply can not wait for the sun to shine and the roads get dry to drive that car. Sometimes I would rather be by myself so I can run down some back country roads. My girlfriend wants to carry on a conversation when I just want to hear the car exhaust. I enjoy it that much. Thanks for the ride!!!
