I am not trying to start a riot or complain, just want to know why the members of the forum cant start group purchases. If there is not a vendor here that offers the product we desire, which is corvette related, why then can we not seek to attain that item. I could see if the item were available from a forum vendor but if its not, why can we not get together to attempt to acheive some savings. Then there is no possible way to find out who is interested other than to p.m. every member of the board. i unserstand that the forum vendors help keep the board going but there are some new items that may not be offered by such in which case we are limited. I would just like to know the reasoning behind this structure.
IMHO, GPs never say any money anyway, just shop around, you'll always find a way out of the Corvette Tax.
Most GPs mark up to mark down. The price is the same in the long run. I have purchased exhuast, trim, tires, superchargers. All the GP prices, this forum or not, end up being the same after shipping and such.
Again, Just shop around, someone always has it cheaper
Well........because they essentially pay the freight for the benefit of the Members. Group Purchase = Volume, so by taking a GP outside a supporting vendor it hurts their pocket book. Additionally, once you let a non-supporting vendor in through a member driven GP, you run the risk of members throwing them business outside of the GP....more pain to a supporting vendor.
Now.....I understand what you're saying, if a vendor doesn't offer a product, then a member driven GP is no harm/no foul but I just think there is too much downside with the potential to do more harm than good.
I have seen where a member will post an idea for a GP to see if a supporting vendor will step up and those seem to have been somewhat successful.
