Default Finally got to prime my quarter and rocker panels!

It's been a long time building custom one-off flares. I started back in September building a complete mock up flare that I could use to cast molds.

Here was step one:

And now, here are the pics of the final parts covered in a PPG black epoxy primer. The line, shape and quality is better than I hoped for at this point. I still have some finish work to do and I'll have to apply 2-3 more coats of epoxy primer, block it down and then time for some K36 (polyester) primer, block again and finally paint.

Keep the mold, sell it for big $$$$$$ so you can recoup your long R&D.

Looks good

I knew those would be killer, Glenn. I have been painfully waiting with the masking tape firmly afixed to my mouth for all these long months and now I can finally rip it off and say - told ya' the naysayers would be silenced.

Thanks!

I wish they were good enough to sell. I've had to do sooo much work on the final parts from the molds, I really need to cast new molds off of these before I paint them. Bottom line though, casting molds will add another weekend and cost me more $$$$. So I doubt I make new molds, at least not right now . . .

Thanks Ed! I so impatient right now, there's no way I could wait any longer to post progress pics.

Your comments way, way back were very good and I think tapering the flares into the rocker per your original critique really sets them off.

Glenn,

I hear you, but you have worked this hard and for so long on this project that I think you should try and recoup something for your efforts. The Roadrace crowd would probably pay through the nose for this mod.

As you know, I'm a 'tub 'em and keep 'em inboard' kinda guy - but your flares look outstanding

So think about it before laying that final coat of paint on

That is awsome!!!!
I knew they would look hot,but dude........

Now, I know you are impatient, and I can relate, but your just throwing $$$ away if you don't make a new mold for them!

I know you are aware of that too,but ..........

I hate to see you lose out on so much hard and excellent work

Now, if you finally decide Not to make the molds, would you hurry up and finish 'em already!

I can't wait to see them on your car with the wheels and all

Nice work bud!!!!

I agree with EG. Those look very professional. There's allot of 18X12 wheels out there begging for these things. Whatever you decide. They look great. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Thanks again!!!

I don't have the ability to make replacement 1/4 panels, just the flares so they'd have to be spliced in to an oem 1/4 panel. And my flares won't work for existing wheel/tire combos out there. Look at my sig pic. These flares protrude 2-1/2" from the stock fender lip. Anyone one who would like a set, would have to purchase new rear wheels as a minimum. This mod would be very expensive. If the market is real, and people are willing to preorder, I can certainly make the molds at that time. I'll be adding a fiberglass rear fascia and plan to bond it to and blend it in to my 1/4 panels, so they'll be repainted down the road again.

Awesome looking panels you got going and can not wait to see them on your ride. To bad these do not go out for more sets made as they would be popular

Thanks man. I'm really pleased with how well they look. The lines are really true and the surface is really flat. I have some pin holes and raw fiberglass glass spots that need attention and the rockers have some slight wave in them that needs eliminated.

Sure wish I had your garage though.

Glenn, wow! Just simply wow! I still have the first preview pics that you sent me long time ago and was just thinking about you the other day. If you could Glenn, please try to cast the final molds before you get those painted. Those look near perfect now and just as I had thought. I know its tough to dishout all the extra $$$$ but like others said, it will be well worth it in the end! Like I told you long time ago, I do have 18X12s with 335 that I got with different offsets so that I dont have to deal with tubbing and these flared fenders would work perfect for people in my situation.

Talk to you later bud
