Default Halltech Stinger vs. Halltech SSM

Basically the new Halltech SSM (Super Size Me) is the same design as the current Halltech Stinger just w/ a larger 20" filter instead of the 12" Warhead filter on the Stinger. However, a Stinger can be bought for a little more than $100 cheaper. So just wanted some thoughts, go for the SSM or the Stinger? Any more performance w/ SSM?

Better still, go for the Halltech Tric. Fastest cold air intake. No longer made.

With the Tric, my otherwise stock 2002 Z06 made many passes in the 11.5s and traps of 120 in good air on DRs.

If anyone considering a Halltech is interest in my Tric, drop me a PM.

Stay with the Stinger and save a 100 bucks. No real noticeable difference. Both filters allow as much air as can possibly fit through the tunnel tube. TRIC are nice looking if you can find them, but Halltech themselves say they got better flow numbers through the current generation Stingers. Those are words right from Jim Hall.

Actually, there's more to power than just flow rate. There's also inlet air temperature and smoothness of flow.

The Tric breathes cold air from off the air dam on a very smooth path through the MAF into the intake. Tric produces faster times than the Vararam or any other intake on a Z06.

Just a thought.

The Tric puts the air filter just at the top edge of the air dam.

The Trap put the air filter behind the license plate cover, which you remove or cut as you see fit.

Each position for the air filter causes spells difference in the IAT and smoothness of flow.

But again the Tric on my car holds the records for a 2001 and 2002+ Z06. I'm not taking anything away from any Halltech product. On the contrary, I'm simply saying the Tric demonstrably produced the best acceleration.
