Yes, bars were left long in a couple of places since he is doing a self install. And, since the cage was shipped practically whole, just wanted to make sure there were no errors on my part.

Also shipped him some practice pieces.

Ok, I know, try to keep up...
But I have a question, teacher.
That is a B&M shifter? Is the installation that radical as a matter of course or because you're adapting another model or because you want it to mount differently or...?

All of the above. It is a B&M shifter - a Pro Ratchet.

B&M themselves said it will not work with a 4L60E unless you buy an "aftermarket transmission computer". I explained that it's a Vette - I already have a PCM - but they insisted that it would not work. Hurst said the same thing, so did TCI. I tried the racing sites - Jegs, Summit Racing, MrRays... same answer - "it will not work with a 4L60E"

So, we will see if it will work or not - and I had to mount it so it looks stock - that's the whole point

4L60E being the stock A4 or an upgraded item? I've lost track, it's a wonder you haven't too.
What about upgrading to the A6 with the paddle shifters? Could that be done?

4L60E is the stock "A4" - automatic in C5s. I have a (RPM) Rodney built A4 set up for full race but without the manual valve body.

The 6L80E - the 6 speed "paddle shifter" transmission from the 2006 C6, has been successfully retrofitted into a C5 by Yank. It costs $10,000+, and comes with a custom torque tube, wiring and computer. Oh yes, and you need a new differential as well. That cost does NOT include the paddle shifter, BTW - or gears.

Hmm that rollbar looks very much like mine. Had mine built locally by a chassis fab shop.

for 10K you could get a twin turbos and with ur race trans from RPM shift faster then the paddle shifter (possibly the stock A4 trans shifts faster anyways).

Best get lots of welding practice in. I want to see those welds look like a roll of dimes on its side.

It is always fun watching these.

I know you are doing a wheel project. Have you released any details? Did I read earlier about some crazy wide wheel? Are you sticking with the C5 coupe style wheel.. but only wider? Just making sure I didn't miss any unveilings.

Alright, then that answers the question - there are far more sensible ways to spend your money given your objectives. Thanks.

Details have not been released. That one will be a pretty radical surprise

These threads need to be rated "R" for us garage queens!

I'm going back to the "PG" section, my eyes can't take much more of this
