Default Valentine1 mounting

I have a VI, love the units performance but hate the suction cups and cord.

Have heard that there are several mountings available. Any mounting pictures and do vendors of such items come to Carlisle in August? Thanks guys!!

I am using the suction cups, and hardwired to the switched aux wire in the passenger floorboard (not available in '04's).

One problem with mounting the detector under the rearview mirror is that at night, when it lights up, any bozo near your car or behind you can see the display, and that ain't good, especially if the cops see it. Mine sits on the center of the dash just behind the windshield, and I have a remote display plugged into the cigarette lighter below. No way anyone will see the remote display, since the main one on the detector is dark when the remote display is on. More stealthy IMO.

http://www.invisicord.com/ Try one of these connects to your rear view mirror it's about 7'' long it powers up when you start the car. I use and like the suction cups. With the invisicord it sits just to the left of my rearview mirror just below the tint line very stealth

Does anyone have pics of the great lakes setup? I have it ready to install, but I was just curious what it looked like.

I've seen guys with the great lakes mount, and they were pretty happy with it. You should also check out the brand new mount being offered by Vettemods.com here on the forum. They make it for the V1 and the 8500. I just got one for my 8500 and LOVE it!

By the way, good to see a fellow Illini alum on here. (class of '97 undergrad and '02 law school).

I just bought one of these and installed with the V1. Before that I had the under-mirror mount (think I ordered it from Corvette Central - not sure what brand). The new one is a big improvement because it clears up the windshield area. I also have the remote display run down to my ashtray area.

I have the Great Lakes visor mount. I really like that location better, and love the fact that the detector isn't easily visable from outside the car.

Would it work in a Vert? It looks like the visors have to be up, which is on a Vert with the roof down.

Thanks for all of the replys I already have the Vettemods visor bracket but I dont really like the location of the V1 with it. My buddy just gave me a inviscord today and I just ordered the Grate Lake mirror mount it should work out good. I will post pics when it comes in and I install everything.

Suggestion, dump the suction cups and just use clear silcone seal to bond the stock Escort/V1 metal bracket directly to the windshield where you want it. I have done this on my last 4 cars, very stable, will not fall off, but easily removed with a razor blade. Just mark the location carefully with an erasable magic marker first, clean both the mount and the glass with alchol, put a layer of silcone seal on the mount surface and apply to the glass. Tape in place with blue painters tape overnight. then click in your Escort/V1 the next day.
Works great !
Mount it so the dector is just under the tint line on the left side on the mirror.........can easily be hidden by lowering the visor
