My biggest concern was the warrenty on this product. If there is discoloration and when they take the film off of the car if it will
affect the clearcoat on the car. But so far from what I am hearing
for you all is, if there are any problems with it the dealer will be
willing to change it out... I really appericate all of the help!
I have had my 3M installed for about 3.5 years now. It has held up well, but there are a few places where a rock tore small holes in it. However, it has prevented any bug marks or rock chips in the paint.
Down side is that it has tinted yellow. Being that my car is Arctic White, that is a bad combination. It is in the garage almost 98% of the time, so my guess is that my Meguiar's wax tinted it yellow. Currently, I am in the process of determining if there is a way to correct the yellowing, and if not, I will attempt removal of the product
What I was told by the installer is to only use "Plexus" (a special plastic cleaner). I wax the non 3M covered part of the car normally and then spray Plexus on the 3M film and wipe it off. If you look at the rag after you use the Plexus on the 3M film, you will see the rag picks up a yellowish residue.
Another thing he said is that if you get "micro-scratches" on the film, you can rub it with a rag that has Isopropyl Alcohol and then use the Plexus spray. It does work.
My car is Electron Blue, so I probably will never see any discoloration, but I follow the installers instructions anyway. He should know...
I know that's what the "book" says, but try the Plexus from the beginning on your next install. It does pull yellow gunk from the film.
Probably too late if your film is already yellow.
I had a quote for $1100 for a custom cut kit that offered comparable coverage, but didn't feel good about the guy using a razor blade to cut the film after it was laid on the car.
Just had this done to my car, and they sliced my paint.
2007 Z06 with 250 miles on it when they did it. The guy did exellent work accept for slicing the F***ING paint. If I were to do it again, I would buy the pre-cut and live with less than perfect fit than have my paint sliced.

Have a Pre cut kit installed, and do not have some hack F-up your car.
XPEl,or RockBlocker use 3m film, Venture tape will "fog up" In a year or two. SHop around- price shpuld be between 600-800 depending on the amount of protection you want, this can include lights ( a must), rocker panels, wheel well edge, front bumper, hood, mirrors.
So far, I've had buddies and colleagues of mine having their stuff done by a few companies. First of all, one of my company's clients car had Sticker City do his car. It was a beautiful black Lamborghini Murc Roadster. He spent about $100k over at SP Engineering who subbed it out to Sticker City. When he got the car, he wasn't too thrilled with how it looked, especially when I went into his office for a meeting w/ my vette. I parked it next to his Lambo and before we went inside his office, we started talking about our love - fine autos. The Lambo had some issues and he was already a bit ticked off about it as I pointed things out to him that he already knew about. He started looking at my white shark and he asked about my guy - Premier. That same day after our short and unlively meeting, I escorted him over to Premier's place. Upon arrival, Sam et.al came out and priced everything out for us. My client gave him a thumbs up on setting up an appointment to get it all redone. During this time, Sam noticed something that was suspicious. He brought us over to the nose of the car where it had a few pieces of film butt up. Sam kindly asked for permission to peel off the bra, which my client obliged. As the bra came up where Sticker City joined it, there was a deep razor mark. Keep in mind gentlemen that this is on a black $350k car where the zorro marks are white in color. There was a total of 5 razor marks on the bumper ranging anywhere from 3-5 inches long!!!!!!!!!! Furious as to what he witnessed (I was a little shocked myself, but it wasn't my first time seeing something like this - I'll share another experience later), he immediately had his assistant contact SP. He was on the phone w/ the owner of SP and chewed him out for a good 15 minutes!!!!!
As for the other company I've seen do something like this, it is Profinish. The guy came out to my buddy's place and started working on his RS F355. 30 minutes later, he packed up and left without saying much. He just said that he's done and drove right off! Well guess what, my friend nearly had a heart attack when he saw that this guy cut the paint on his factory Ferrari paint. The guy never returned any of the calls. I believe he's still in business, but certainly should not be considering such business ethics. My client would not have known that there was so much damage underneath if I hadn't brought him over to Premier. Honestly, most of us would not have known either.
In the end, it is very important to find the best to do whatever you decide to do to your baby. Although our cars aren't too expensive, it is still a $50k baby to us that deserves as much attention as the Lambo or Ferrari guys get.
Others have said it - go to someone who is experienced and tell him/her up front that you are concerned about cutting the paint. On our Z06, they did not only the nose, but behind the wheel wells, the mirrors, and the rocker panels frorm the bottom line of the 'cove' the full length fo each side. No problems at all. The company we used here in AZ has their installation shop in the middle of a complex that sells BMW, Mercedes, Saab, Masarati, Ferrari, etc. They work for all the dealers there in Scottsdale and would not be in business if they weren't extremely reliable and stood behind everything. It's worth it to drive a bit to find the best.
Navvyvet is right on spot. The company I use is Premier and is highly regarded as the best in the industry. They are commissisoned to travel all over the world for supercars!!!. Just take a look at their website and gallery and you could tell from a first rate company and a regular joe's - www.premiermobilegroup.com
I've had a clear bra on my '04 Z for about 2 years now, and it's getting a little beat. I believe the manufacturer is Ventura/Venture, or something like that. The installer liked it better than 3M. Anyhow, it's protecting the paint, but it's faded slightly and shows numerous "dings" under the flourescent lights in my garage. Out in the sun it looks OK.
I'm going to try a buffer and some Meguiar's Plastic Polish to see if I can bring it back to life. I also had the protection added behind each wheel and the mirrors, as well as the door handle coves. The mirror protection is getting a little hazy too, but at least the plastic is protecting the paint underneath!
If anyone has any tips for bringing it back to life, please let us know.
Check out Plexus for your clear bra. Just do a search. My installer turned me on to it and it works great.
