Texas is starting to crack down on the front license plates and as you know the front plate on a C5 looks bad to say the least.
There are alot of plate covers in the catalogs, Eckler's, etc, but it is hard to tell what they are going to look like on the car.
Has anyone found a cover that maintains the shape on the nose like the factory insert?
Pictures and where to find it would be greatly appreciated.
Hasn't this issue been talked about a lot??? There is a clear cover that is available that some folks have partially painted to still allow the plate to be seen but still fills the hole in the front bumper. Basically, they leave a rectangular part of the cover over the plate clear and paint the rest around that to match the bumper. Not the most elegant solution, but it seems to work.
I used to live in NY (front plate required state) and I would just put the front plate up on the passenger side dash. Had rubber edging around the plate so it wouldn't rip or scrape the dash. Never had a problem. I believe as long as the plate is visible from the front, you shouldn't have a problem. When I got home or went to a show, front plate goes in the trunk.
Ohio required the plate to be affixed to the bumper, in the
window does not cut it - fyi
Won't work in Texas either! A friend of mine just got a ticket for not having it mounted on the front of the car.
Quit whining and just put the plate on the car with the factory provided frame. You will get used to it, and you don't have to worry about a $200 ticket.
This is the best license plate frame that I've found that matches the paint - better than that factory plastic POS. I'm not familiar with an actual plate cover in the shape of the nose. I got front and rear frames from www.kewlauto.com
There's something wrong with my picture hosting site, so I've attached a picture of it below.
