Default Power Steering Loss Intermittent

I just got my car back from the shop, they did an oil change, upped the rev limiter to 6500 RPM, and plugged in some A/C cord they forgot to plug in the last time I had service done. When i started driving it, I noticed that the power steering would cut out and I would have no power steering. Then after a few seconds, the power steering would feel fine. I was taking a freeway on-ramp when the steering tightened up like a car with no power steering feels. After a couple of seconds, it felt fine. It seems to happen more when i drive it hard, but i cant say for sure because when i stop driving it hard when i notice it, it still seems to stay on for about 10 seconds.

Does any body know what this could be?

Hi C5Stunner -

Wow - I would reconsider that shop -

Sounds like the belt is slipping maybe - the pump runs off of an accessory belt.

Just my guess from here.

best regards -

Check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir. You could have a pump that is getting ready to fail or a steering rack that is starting to go bad.

if ya can catch it in time ya may want to look a voltmeter when it occurs a voltage drop would tell ya the belts slipping.did they spill some oil on belt,if ya change it clean all the pulleys
