Heads & Cam vs. Supercharger?
Can someone please tell me the advantages and disadvantages of going with heads and cams versus the supercharger?

with supercharger you add weight and more components that can break
with head/cam, if you try to get same hp as supercharger, you get a lumpy idle, not as much lower end. supercharged engine will behave just like stock when you're not on it.

Then again, you could do a mild H/C job and then down the road after you win the lottery, have a blower installed and have the best of both worlds.
The "reliability issues" between the two options are about the same....don't beat on your Vette, and no matter which you chose, it will give you lots of long service.
In my honest opinion, the only real difference between the two, is stealth. Those around you KNOW you have something going on beneath the hood, with a H/C setup. But it's not always that way with a blower.....depending on which one you go with.
And of course there's the cost factor.....blowers cost more than the typical H/C set up.

I'm doom now since I got big cam and high compression heads so if I'll add blower, I gotta do the whole thing.

also if you go with a supercharger you will need a new hood painted to match the car.

Not all superchargers need a new hood.

Heads/cam AND a blower.

My thoughts when I did mine was the future upgrade potential. Went with the stock heads/bottom end and the base Novi package from ECS. Additionally, I added the Alky injection as a safety net not really for more HP. If I want more ponies in the future, I can forge the bottom end and turn up the boost. I felt that if I went with H/C and wanted more later, I would have to discard my investment.

i would def. choose a blower setup. ive always been 100% geared toward N/A cars... always thought it was so cool to have a big motor and put down lots of power and be able to say its "all motor"
but when it comes down to it, a blower is so much more fun and reliable. if i had to do it all over again, i would have went with a forged 347 and thrown a blower on it. instead i went with the bigger motor and big heads/cam. im at 500rwhp N/A but want more fun/power. there is only so big you can go all motor before you lose driveability. mines a DD, and i love it, but i doubt most would even consider driving my car everyday.
throw a blower on it, and enjoy the stock driveability with a ton more power. the only downside is the cost. just remember to consider all the extra costs when doing either... whether it be new springs, clutch, tires ... and dont forget a tune.
or like others have suggested.... just do both! do a nice head/cam job now which would only benefit with a blower a little later down the road!

I did both.....but not at the same time. About 6 years ago I went to The Vette Doctors for their Rx-450 package, which consists of a heads/cam package and other goodies and was good for close to 400 RWHP. Throughout the years I installed a few bolt-ons here and there. After running an 11.9 1/4 mile time I was so happy that I asked "The Docs" what else they could offer me and they said a Procharger with a small amount of boost on top of what I already have would be sweet. So off to The Doctors I went and now the car is shweeeeeeeeet! Of course any more power on a stock bottom end could be dangerous

I too have always leaned more toward N/A cars, but at least with the LS motors, I think blower is the way to go...
Sure there are those N/A folks that will tell you you can get 450RWHP or 500RWHP...but where is the power band at, and how is the drivability?? Not too many N/a cars with stock drivability at that power range, unless of course you switch to bigger cubes like a 427 etc..
Go with the A&A kit or ECS kit. I have 2 close friends, one with a 98 A4 with the A&A kit, he is putting down about 520RWHP with stock heads, stock bottom end... and headers. ..the other has a 6 speed and is making about 540RWHP.
SC all the way
